Sold the last one I had in 95 no one wanted it back then.

always wanted one as a teenager (used to get stopped regularly by an unmarked 3.0S) but when I finally met my hero I was horribly disappointed - wheezy engine, dodgy rear end and felt dated. My world had moved on to 205 Gtis, which felt so much more fun. The other car in this category for me was the Opel Manta GTE - looked fantastic but then terrible to drive. 930 turbo was better on a poster than in the real world too.

Who mentioned E30s?

Not sure why this is at 65k when others, perfectly serviceable, are at 5k.

99p start all the way to 65k, how bizarre, must be a p1ss take of some sort unless its got a load of hidden gold bullion in the cills

No one mentioning JDM much so I thought i would chime in:

All the classic stuff like r32 gtr's/r33/r34 that are or eligible for US export have gone nuts in price in the last 3-7 years.
Same goes for the early mitsubishi EVOs', classic impreza's you only have to look at the japanese auction weekly and see some of the total rubbish selling for crazy money and the majority is being sent to the USA.
Some US buyers are buying cars not yet eligible for export due to their 20 year rule and storing them in japan for 1-3 years ready for export.

Cars of the JDm variety that will likely be in great demand will be s15 Silvia nissans spec Rs and a few of the later EVOs that the Yanks did not get access too, not to mention the later hatch impreza's STIs that posses the EJ20 2.0 engines that were forged from the factory. Like a 2009-2011 impreca STI spex C for example
Just my take.

Post #48 in this thread by me back in Dec you'll see i went into detail on JDM. My tip at the time was the subie P1... There were 3 on PH and AT for under 30k. I think 2 were 26k. Here we are 3 to 4 months later and you wont find one. If you did it will set you back 40k. Not bad for 4 months. Peripheral cars have already lifted too... 80s mitsi starion, rb30 gts, fc rx7, rnn14 gtir, sil180 / s13 etc. The halos are now rubbish prices and despite most disagreeing with me, anyone forking out 250k for an r34 gtr m spec nur etc is going to get burnt fingers. They'll ultimately get their again but i can see some sharp dips at the top end... Especially when good r35 gtr are so cheap. The luxo barges like celsiors and soarers havent gone up much but i doubt they will. Rust free s205 turbo celica which were 7k, now 15k, are still a good pick up. A well sorted tt 5spd zx is probably good value... Relatively speaking.

USA is 25 year rule not 20. So i compete with them on some imports. But generally where they can (such as supra) they prefer left hookers, but for some they cant... Such as r32/3/4 gtr. Most importers will cop 6 to 12 months max storage, but after that carrying costs get too high. Storage, insurance, freight back and forth, potential for exorbitantly charged repairs if you are not local... Etc etc. I've been through it too often and i won't go for more than 9 months max now.

I still reckon a well sorted gransport spyder... Limited to 44 right hookers.... Is crackingly good value. The verde green one at mcgraths last year was absurd value.

And whilst I'm by my lonesome on this one I reckon the 40 odd rhd Audi R8 GTs in coupe body, from a total run of 333, are good value as well. Maybe too soon to have fully depreciated, but must be close to...

No need to apologise. Anyone who can trawl through 26 pages of commentary would have the patience of a saint!!! Which i presume would be an endangered species on this forum.

One of the main reasons the SZ price jumped a few years ago was due to them hitting 25 and being eligible for import to the USA. Although some one SZ has been there before as per this one which was shown at the Concorso Italiano, part of the Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, in 1998 as part of the 156 launch in the US, some of you might recognise this particular car ;)
