This is my local event, it's very friendly and I wondered if any others fancied it.

It's once a month and the next one is the 15th of May.

It's at a small museum with lots of parking space.

http://www.museumofpower.org.uk/Events.html#CCM

I will go in my Asetto Corsa if I have it back by then, or if not the Alfa.

If you only like high end super car stuff, then it's not for you, but if you love variety and it's not far, then you might enjoy it. What makes this good is the variety of scenes etc

Here are some pictures of last time (over 100 cars) :

Only saw one Maser, a GT.

Otehrs in the photos, C Type Rep with my dearly departed blue Plymouth behind it, TWO genuine RS500 built by Tickford, Sleeper Cossie Sierra estate complete with tow bar, roof rack, and national trust stickers, Ultima etc.

JD classics also bought along their Rover SD1 racer, which was trailered there. JD classics is just down the road, it's worth 5 minute drive to have a look at their mouth watering collection, a lot is displayed in the window. They also do open days sometimes too....

Back in the mid 80s we used to get an XR4x4 in regularly ( about every 6 months) for clutches. It had a Turbo Technics twin turbo conversion. I don't know the power, but it had 350 in foot high letters down the sides. I was never spectacularly impressed by the performance until I discovered the hi/low boost switch. Seriously quick machine in hi boost mode.

Dad had two xr4x4 with turbo technics conversion, not the twin turbo one, but the middle of three options.

He then replaced with a 4x4 saphire cosworth. He says the xr4x4 was quicker, with fantastic midrange, but of course not the complete package in handling etc.

he sold the xr to a farmer friend who used it to tow sheep etc as 4x4 and lots of torque!

Looks like the same set up as Bristol Breakfast meet...without the risk of kirbing your alloys.

On Sierra 4×4s, had those on fleet when I was plod with GMP to replace the Capri 280s...they were swift but on ocasion we would have the odd 2 wheel drive cars that handles rather different...oh and we missed the Capri's too.

A reminder about this event, this Sunday...

Looks like I will be there in my 66' Alfa Giulia (Red Coupe) as my AC is not back yet.

If you see me with my car please do come and say hello!

Nice to meet a couple of members, Trev (Red 3200) and a lady and gentleman with red 4200 convertible whose names elude me.

Both lovely cars and friendly people, the first people I have met from the forum :)

It was a bit quieter than normal, but unbeknown to me it turns out this week clashed with one of the biggest classic shows in Essex at Battlesbridge antiques centre.

I went on to that show and enjoyed a cider by the bar whilst listening to the band with a couple of friends.

A great weekend :)

Good to meet you guys today too. Your Alfa is lovely Angus and I'm extremely envious as it's very much on my want list. It may have been quieter than usual, but there was still a good mix of machinery.

A few pics from today.

Good to meet you both there - missus says the trip worthwhile just to be called a lady:happy:

Similarly, good to meet some really friendly forum members, really worth going cross-country there and will go into the museum next time.

let's hope for ongoing spyder weather!,

cheers,

David.
