Carbon Interior Trim

Carbon trim for the GTS is extraordinarily expensive from main dealers or 3rd party specialist suppliers e.g. passenger-side dashboard trim is £716. Would there be any interest if I could provide this item for £240? Or are there other carbon parts that people would purchase if they were circa 1/3rd of the normal price? I'd need a quantity of 10 of any part to really make it viable.

Great offer but not for me thanks.

Personally I dislike carbon as an interior look and am fascinated by the inclusion of it in GT cars (or any non track cars for that matter).

These guys in Poland manufacture interior & exterior carbon trim pieces and I had them make me a carbon panel for for the bootlid handle, above the number plate as I was never keen on the chrome OEM one. They did a good job and it is a real carbon weave, not just a dip, and the weave is in the correct direction so it matches the carbon bootlid spoiler.

That's interesting, did you need to send the parts to them or were you able to say I wanted this part and they already had the correct measurements? Looking at their site they seem to have had quite a few GTs/QPs thru their shop.

I'm asking bc I've always wanted to have the carbon interior pieces (the gearshift surround, the carbon paddles, the dash cluster etc) that were MC Sportline options but are now hard to find/horrifically expensive from the factory.

No, I didn't need to send it - they offer it as an off the shelf part and the dimensions were exactly the same as the piece that it replaced.

What about hydro-dipping? Some parisioners have gone down that route quite successfully

I would imagine it's certainly more cost effective, please correct me if I'm wrong, then swapping out for genuine carbon parts (OEM or otherwise). Personally - and this makes zero sense financially - I'd rather have the real thing. As a rule I'm not a huge fan of carbon trim either (my car has black piano trim incl. the wheel) but as an alternative to the nasty plastic dial surround and shift paddles specifically, I think it's an improvement

The funny thing is, carbon has always been about weight saving but I have changed all of my interior trim pieces from the Nero Soft that it came with from new, to OEM used carbon trim that I got from a written off Stradale, and the carbon trim pieces are actually mounted on brushed aluminum pieces making them heavier than the original nero soft pieces that I had!
Style over function on this occasion it seems!

Yes the interior trim is disappointingly painted plastic rather than (in my case) real wood veneer.

OK, so if carbon isn't that popular for the interior, what about replacing the cheapo silver plastic parts with nicely finished CNC'd aluminium?

If we can think of anything that would be good made from CNC’d Aluminium, or any other metal (Not just interior stuff) I might be able to help. I have access to a blue light scanner, CAD and about 10 CNC’s. Been trying to think of something for the car I could apply it to.

I think some people would take you up on that, 'cos as you say the original prices are ridiculous. Obviously you'd have to offer all the other trim parts to match at a reasonable cost. I would think if priced accordingly, you'd managed to get 10 takers but it may take a while as the traffic here isn't vast.

Personally, I've been on the look out for a good copy of the sport MC rear lip spoiler that will fit on an MC-shift boot lid (with the lip). If there was one available in the UK that was known to fit for circa £300 or less, I would think there would be quite a few takers.

I've just taken a punt on a mid-priced painted Chinese knock off for £200 as choices were very limited. Not sure what the fit will be like yet.

I’d enquired with these chaps but never got a firm price. I was after the gear surround and ac trim to start

got pieces from these guys in my Cayenne. Not got to replacing stuff in the QTP yet, but they do sell it all!
