Car regularly opened and robbed while I'm asleep

My 2006 QV5 is opened and contents are stolen about once a year. I don't leave anything very valuable inside, but having sunglasses and prescription glasses stolen every time is annoying. I live about 400 m from where I park the car on the street so I don't think it's someone using a fob relay box over this range. The driver door is always left partly closed (on the 1st latch) so I know that I need to relock and re-alarm the car, oh and buy new glasses x2. There is no damage to the car.

I notice a keyhole/lock on the boot, next to the opening latch. Does this mean that I can deadlock the boot and keep any contents safe from the thief?

This has happened to us on occasion. Either someone has the equipment (electronic &/or mechanical) to open the door, or possibly on rare occasions we forget to lock the door. The door is left on the first latch as you say (so they don't have to slam it). As you say, very annoying. So we never leave anything in the cars.
