Can't set date and time on infotainment

I've a dim recollection of this on mine. I've a feeling that if the time AND date are overly awry, the date/time mismatch with GPS results in failure.
I'd set the date incorrectly

And this from another forum.

The beeping is because you have the "Time Base" checked. Uncheck the "Time Base" and you'll be able to change the time manually. I had the same problem. I'm not sure if it's in the manual; however, I stumbled upon the fix while fiddling around.

Thanks guys, I certainly unticked the GPS sync in date and time section. Currently it is set to first July 2000 and time is 10 hours behind . I can set the clock on dash just fine.

I tried to change it outside where it could sync with the satellite but no change . I know gps works as it accurately shows my location.
What I noticed even on the NIT the date is dashes than the date it shows under the menu.

I was thinking it could be proxi alignment but it seems the issue is generated within the NIT as other features seems to be fine and showing on dash display.

I’m not bothered with the date but it makes me think there could be other issues as the result of this .

I had the same problem on mine that i bought recently. Mine was a result of the 'specialist' I bought it from trying to turn off the service light without the correct date showing, between purchase and delivery. This is a known problem. The service record and time/date function become corrupted and you then need a whole new instrument binnacle as the relevant electronics are attached. This is costly wherever you go. I chose to repair through main dealer as the part is made to order from Maserati and ensures it works with my spec and traceable continuity of service record and mileage. I am now preparing a claim against the garage to recover the cost as they bought an incorrect and used binnacle off ebay as a solution!

Thanks a lot for your response. Seems like a very poor design to allow a service reset to mess things up. I thought a factory reset of electronic components and re-learning should resolve than full replacement of parts.

Now you mentioned this, I recall looking through the menu and checked the service reminder and it was on 23,000kms and the number of days to next service shows as dash lines. But I thought since the current date shows 2000 it would have confused the system .

The current specialist I use has been around and the tool he has is very comprehensive. Certainly not a cheap eBay stuff, but it’s not the dealer system either.

I spoke to many independent specialists and main dealers to try and find a cheaper solution, but with no luck. Some I spoke to about the issue believed it was because a non-OEM system was used that caused the corruption. Basically to ensure you use authorised systems and dealers only. But I don't know if that is true. They all knew it was an issue at service and they all stated is was a new part.

We had a car in today with the same issue.

Carried out a major service and Ashley’s last job was to reset the service light.

The date and time were way behind, so Ashley set the date to the correct one before resetting the service token but it wouldn’t take.

We analysed the stored service tokens and you could clearly see that service token 4 (year 8) was corrupt as it had the month as 64...not a valid date. It was set twice from the data at the same mileage as the first attempt was done after a battery disconnect we think and the time zeroed out to 1/1/2000.

All the previous services were carried out via the main dealer!...so it’s not the service tool, it’s the operator not setting the clock and will brick it wether it be factory Diagnosi or aftermarket tool.

We then looked at another GTS that had a working service reset by us and what happens is you can not reset the date and time to before that of the last service reset.

Screw the reset and you screw the date and time.

Did you manage to fix it ?

Is there another fix than replacing the dash? I just got my car from my independent shop, obviously the technician that used the reset tool screwed it up. When I got the car, the date was 2091 and impossible to change. I did a battery reset, it went to 2000 and still impossible to change ;)
Not very optimistic about ever getting my date/time back...

Looks like your indie has ruined your dash. There is no other known solution so the people that did it will need to pay for a main dealer to fix it for you. Sorry!

Hi ,

Does anyone have the Tech Info 201004 which relates to the time/date issue. It would seem this is a Maserati firmware design issue , need to understand if a bricked unit can be repaired as most likely to be corrupted eeprom data.

Regards
Steve

For members based in the UK and with similar Maserati date/time reset issues, I've found a company offering a solution. Following a service last year, I couldn't reset the date/time on my 2011 Granturismo S (even technicians with the right Autel and Leonardo equipment couldn't get the date/time to save). I am however very grateful to the guys at The Supercar Rooms (Hartlebury near Kidderminster, UK) who have an EPROM specialist who was able to identify faulty cells within the dash firmware itself. They were able to replace the faulty chip and port over all the correct information relating to the service history as well as set the correct date/time. Thanks to Neal and Mark at https://thesupercarrooms.co.uk/ for sorting the issue.
