Have just seen this.....mmmnn, Vettel was quite a bit ahead when it happened.
I think perhaps Hamilton got lucky here.
Vettel seems to be making more and more errors nowadays.......German Grand Prix, Monaco walls etc I get the impression he's pushing the Ferraris limits whereas Hamilton is driving within the Mercedes.

Not a Vettel fan but he should never have had a penalty for that. No doubt he will get another for moving the 1st and 2nd signs as they FIA will not like being made to look silly. On another note my mate came first in his class in the Bristish GT championship at Silverstone yesterday. It was his first win.

If it had been Spa and he’d gone straight through the bus stop and got a penalty for “unfair advantage” no one would be complaining, don’t see this is any different. He might not have been able to do anything about it but that’s irrelevant.

Nobody wants to win like that but Vettels mistake forced Hamilton to take avoiding action to avoid a collision, the only way he could have avoided a penalty would have been to give up the position as soon as he was back under control at least then we would have had a race to the end.

Vettel is under pressure within the team, there is a desire for him to deliver the results regardless of how competitive the car is and he has a young gun snipping at his tail, this when you see the real greats just soaking it up and getting the job done. Vettel is an awesomely quick driver but not sure he can handle the pressure he is currently under hence the mistakes.

Competitive racing or brinkmanship? I like Vettel but I'm not convinced of his radio comments, and the post race display of petulance didn't do him any favours. How many times over the years has it been said that race officials have favoured Ferrari?

It was not a forced error, and at the end of the day Vettel did make an error. The decision may be a little harsh, but he rejoined the track in front of Hamilton, its a problem. The one way to win the race cleanly would be not to skid in the first place!

It is all rather dull at the mo. I just watch the start and the first 10 laps then give up.

The only positive is seeing Mclaren coming back out of the shadows.

Me also, when I remember it's on. I used to watch them all avidly, went to a fair few, but it seems to have lost something.

My hero, well it was probably his car of choice, strangely in recent years one of my track day buddies is Martyn Marshall, Gerry's brother, a pretty good pedaller in his own right.

One cold November morning at Donny and I got the Craner Curves wrong which often ends up as a spin in the Old Hairpin. SZ straight across the racing line and the first car heading towards me flat out is Martyn in his modified 350Z. I decided to stay put and wait, only to watch a 350Z get thrown sideways slide past my rear and then collected up and power off up the hill. Talked to Martyn in the pits and his thought process was - it's Andy, he knows I can drive, he will stay where he is - which left me options and I thought round the back sideways would look better.

Yep agree....Was just talking about modern age though. So much more better racing out there than F1. I'll always watch F1 but can fully understand why loads don't these days.
