Different world for sure. The owner's manual doesn't even mention such mundane things as fuse boxes.
And yes two batteries.
Let alone heated wipers and washer jets......

Yeah my Daimler Sovereign XJC was the same but very enjoyable :)
Whaaaaffft. Mine was one of the last proper straight 6's. Loved it.
Nearly lost it on Gorges du Loup, Provence. Front driver wheel over the edge. Those suspension crowns were sturdy. The last scene of 'The Italian Job' was tame in comparison. Gently rocking. 3 French chaps, Jacqueline in the back for ballast and a couple of planks sorted it.
Quite steep Les Gorges.

Nearly had a V12 XJS. But the dampness down my trouser leg on opening the bonnet put me off.

Was that a leaking radiator , nervousness and no tena men about or a wet dream

Clarification required
Ha. Huge bonnet concealed a mass of pipes and engine. Thought of bills brought on spontaneous reaction.

It was divine though. Creamy power and gorgeous sound climbing a hill near hear

That's probably why manufacturers hide everything under plastic covers today

One look at all that and they'd never sell a car :D

TBH that was the feeling on both the Maseratis. Once you get bedded in, it tends to reduce (IME at least) Still quaking in my boots here. Give me 6 months and I'll be getting it chipped

Was it a manual:cool: as most auto XJ's are for woofers!

Did some testing for TWR in the early 80's around Gaydon, make great race cars!

It was a auto Dave but still a hoot to drive.
A mate of mine in Somerset still has his XJS Race Car with manual box.
