In these crazy times I’m looking at purchasing a new car , phoned a few dealers but showrooms all closed , only operating click and collect , how the h3ll do I get to test drive etc seems wrong handing over £100k without even sitting in the seat and driving off down the M1 . Any suggestions

I guess it depends if you need a test drive?
Distance selling regs means you can send it back if you don’t like it.
So if you know what car you want you might not to, but if you are undecided that’s different matter

What are you thinking of buying? Given that new cars (esp. at that price) are made to order, to your own spec, taking many weeks/months, by the time it comes to drive and collect it, the lockdown should be over anyway.

You’d still want a test drive though, probably even more so on a car ordered for build. Can you cancel the order if when it arrives at the dealer if you don’t like it?

Just bought mine and the government guidelines are 14 day money back for any issue guarantee. I spoke to my dealer and he said if you sit in the seat and it’s not to your satisfaction then bring it back for a full refund.

I agree though it’s been a real issue when purchasing a car but the government guidelines made it easier to get over.

If I wasn’t out of the country in a couple of weeks I would have waited till the lockdown is over to be honest.

I read Volvo are moving to 100% on line sales in the near future as well as ditching leather and ICE.

Years ago I read an article that claimed that 70% of all buyers of brand new 7 series BMWs didn't do a test drive. I suppose you can just assume 'quality', and the test drive is not really a test of anything.
