Mot this morning.

A rear spring has broken !! No idea how that happened but I need a new one.

The odds of finding a pair of rear springs for a Cup ????
I am guessing having a set made is my only really option.

Anybody had springs made before ?

Thanks

Del

According to the parts book, if I’m reading it right the rear springs are unchanged from the 2.8 Ghibli. £43 from Eurospares. Give them or a main dealer a ring in the week.

I got Assetto Corsa ones from main dealer, I was surprised, and even more so as they were cheaper than standard ones.

The Cup had the Eibach springs, different than before. And only a single part number for the whole set.

Two years ago these were still available from the factory, not sure about now. Any news from Meridien?

Eurospares almost laughed down the phone ...

McGrath's did some sucking in of breath but were going to make some phone calls.

I have found a company that will make them for £150 a pair - probably the cheapest and most realistic.

Eibach springs usually have a part number and spec printed on them. If you can find it you can contact Eibach direct.

I recently bought a set KS-springs at Maserati that came in blue instead of red. I wanted to use them for a project-car, but that was sold before i could begin. Maybye something for you?

Its unlikely that Eibach will have any left, I believe they keep all the patterns but usually require an order of 50 or so sets before they'll do a production run. The only other company I know of that list springs for a Ghibli are Cobra in Holland but no direct experience of them:

£150 is good for the pair, I doubt you will get them cheaper even if you can find them. Who's the company you found?

Did they measure the characteristics of the old one to make an identical? I guess you will still replace both.

I hope so !!!

They look as identical as i can tell, the one on the left is the old one.

you were unlucky there sir, no rust on that at all!! these springs dont look very old, seems surprising that it broke at all.

My MOT man said "these things happen" ?

Jim the side lights have given up again. They work using the parking switch on the steering column, but not when you turn the lights on.

I am sure i have had this before, and i am just as sure you had me solder a relay ?

Does that ring a bell ?

Will carry out an oil changed this weekend and i have ordered a fuel filter from Eurospares so as the car is still in bits i will look to change this.
