My broadband provider, Gigaclear, has just emailed to tell me that I can go on paying £48 per month. Or I can opt to pay £51 per month, for exactly the same service, if I like.

That seems a bit mad.

They also have faster rates for £55pm or £88pm. Also rather odd price points. In

And they say that they offer new customers a deal at £16 per month, and I could probably get that sort of a deal by switching to another provider. (I suppose they have to tell me that.)

So I guess I will be renegotiating with them on Monday....
 
The property I am moving to in 2 weeks is 'off grid' ;) so I could not get anything ' conventional' so I have gone with Starlink, on offer at £25/month for 1st 6 months, then £35/month, equipment is free and I already have it up and running.
 
Try the Money saving expert website for comparisons. I'm paying £32 (up from £29 this year) for sky's half a gig service, but have seen some deals for new customers for £28 for a full gig. Mines due in September.

I'll check who else can offer here in the wilds of Gloucestershire.

Gigaclear fibre claims to be giving me 300Mbps, Sky say they can offer 67Mbps, which I'm guessing is an optimistic claim using BT copper.

In return for allowing our local provider (Wessex Internet) to route a cable through our land we get broadband from them at half price (£29 a month). I’m happy with that.
 
I pay £55 pm for Virgin TV and I get EVERYTHING!
All the movies, sports, TNT, Netflix, 2 boxes, and their ultimate fibre internet!

That package is now £90 pm but I told them to cancel and I’ll go elsewhere…..2 days before I got cut off they called and agreed for another 24months at £58 pm
I’m happy with that

Yeah, it turns out that only Gigaclear offer over 100Mbps. I guess they have the monopoly on their fibre. (I wonder if there is some Ofcom rule about that?)

I can still tell them I only need half that and threaten that I might go elsewhere. Also, I still have EE over GSM as a backup, and could threaten to just use that. Or Stalinlink, although I despise the Muskrat.

It's amazing what deals them come out with when you politely tell them that you're thinking of going elsewhere...

Nice one. I may need to do the same. Out of contract at £80 per month
