Well step 1 in the master plan is complete.
So an extension to 31st October.
The next extension will be for 12 months.
May is playing the long game. The longer it goes on the higher the chances that we will either.
A) Lose interest and vote to remain.
B) Someone else will crash out of the EU and it will save us the bother.
C) Everyone will leave the EU and we’ll be the only ones left! :p
Mays protection as PM runs out during that time if it is extended- bang, :suicide:she’s gone, new PM.

Option C is hilarious! :lol2:

Like any problem, it will work itself out one way or the other but agree, we are all sick to death of this.

I think May should go now...that would be the first step to use the next 6 month creatively or we will simply be in the same place come the end of October.

The only positive to come of all of this is that our Le Mans and Euro Tuscany trip wont be affected by port chaos....well, for 2019 anyway!

Got out of Dover swiftly just now with one French Jaguar and a British Porsche with no aggravation at all.
Happy Days.

That reminds me that a few years ago when the Euro crisis started with Greece, the sensible thing would have been for Germany to leave the Euro (not Greece, then Portugal, then Italy, etc , etc)

I think now the sensible way forward is for an General Election and two (oh yes!) referenda , all on the same day.

  1. People can vote for a Labour v Conservative or Remainer v Leaver MP as they wish.
  2. People can vote Leave or Remain just like last time.
  3. People can vote 'take Mrs May's deal', or 'reject Mrs Mays's deal'.

  1. I would like to think this results in a slim Tory majority and a slim Leave majority.
  2. I seriously believe this results in +2-4 percentage points for Leave over last time.
  3. Surely this is a resounding rejection of 'the deal' as it is voted down by both Remainers and Leavers.

You are joking surely. Not a chance Tories or Labour will get in. It will two new parties fighting most of the seats.
The two parties will be UKIP and Remain party.
No one else will be in it.
UKIP will win it and be the prominent party in the House. I am not saying they will get enough seats for a majority and it may end up being a hung Parliament.
There you are guys. you read it here first. You wait and see if I am not right.

i think you're correct, tories are dead in the water , they'd probably need to make a new constituency that's some sort of tory bunker just to make sure the Party leader gets elected , labour have no chance with catweasle in charge so it's looking like farage for PM

I think you underestimate the resilience of the old parties and the habitual (yet tactical) voting behaviour of the British public. Last time round, the Remain Party (Liberal Democrats) won only 12 seats.

I don’t think that’ll be the case. If May is replaced and if Labour doesn’t come out as the remain party I reckon the House of Commons will look pretty much the same as it does now.

I reckon the biggest loser percentage wise will be the DUP.

I would put money on this not being what happens.

A general election would (please God!) not be a single issue vote, and whilst both Labour and the Conservatives have done a tonne of damage to how the public views them, I don’t think that means either party is dead. I also think the loyalties and ingrained trust and mistrust by the public of either side still counts for a lot.

However, both of them desperately need new leadership. If May resigns, which she might, and Labour fight a general election with Corbyn as their Leader, then they have (IMO) zero chance of being elected. However, if he is replaced by someone sensible (in the eyes of business and the public at large), they could get a sizeable majority.

My prediction is:
  1. May tries once more to get the current deal approved
  2. May fails
  3. May is replaced as Conservative Leader and Prime Minister
  4. A snap election is called
  5. No-one knows what happens next (as depends on how parties play the election)

We are as a nation inherently Conservative voters.
My prediction in the event of an Election is a slim but enough Conservative majority
Have we also not learned that Referenda are bad ideas in that complex questions are not satisfactorily resolved by a simple binary choice.
Also we will leave the EU before Hallows eve
erm somehow..........................

I’m always amused that when a referendum is suggested it’s between Mays ****** up deal or remain!
It’s blatantly obvious that her incompetence has caused this entire scenario and that is no reason to stop Brexit. A remainer, incompetent at best, acting against all advice sabotaging the exit vote.

To respect the first referendum result, let’s vote on No deal or Mays deal and get “no deal” back on the table as a negotiating tool for a far better deal (which everyone wants) as Europe is clearly cacking itself at that prospect as it’s economic data drops off a cliff.

Oh and get a new Brexiteer PM with some belief to stand behind it....which is what I believe the Tories will do (oust May- somehow, 10000 votes?)- no election for the forseeable future as they're finished as it stands.

Its incredible to see this woman remain in the position she holds. Noone trusts her, Her deal is bad for everyone- who on earth thinks Europe will give us a fair crack on the "future agreement" after this fiasco? Yet, she stands there saying vote for my deal after 3 defeats!! It beggars belief, especially when there is blatantly obvious other options.

If she had any honour and respect for the country she should resign. She's a Euro stooge.

I think you're wrong but only if there is a "Brexit" party......they will get a HUGE vote swing.

Some other things that, depending on one’s perspective, are “obvious”...

  • You live in Australia.
  • You wouldn’t need to live through (and may not fully understand) the reality that a no deal Brexit would create
  • You own a business that benefits from volatility in the global markets
  • If we (those who live in the UK) should have a vote, why wouldn’t it include all options open to us…?

P.S. I feel as though I’m in danger of becoming overly involved in this thread, and may be in a minority in terms of my views, so am going to ban myself from commenting further... except on pictures of titis
