I wonder how many in Swindon still think Brexit is a good idea?

I'm pretty sure a few in Sunderland have changed their tune as well.

Remind me again where Toyota are based?

, dumb fooks, hopefully reality will now sink in, wouldn't be surprised if still in a state of denial and probably still don't want to hear/believe the truth of the full implications of a leave vote

"I’d like you to understand this is not related to Brexit .... the “best choice” given the need to reduce production capacity and reform global facilities". Takahiro Hachigo, Honda President.

"The significant challenges of electrification will see Honda revise its global manufacturing operations, and focus activity in regions where it expects to have high production volumes ..... this is not a Brexit-related issue for us, this decision has been made on the basis of global changes". Ian Howells, Vice President of Honda.

Are both these gentlemen " dumb fooks" too?

Car Electrification can still be manufactured here in a ready made car factory...The automotive world is going this way wether we like it or not. It is very compelling evidence when Japan ratified with the E.U its free trade agreement (in December) to then move production elsewhere. Why wouldn't you? So yes Honda is being diplomatic in its announcement. You only had to read between the lines of Prime minister Abe's speech with Tereasa on his last visit to the UK to see what was going to happen.

They are moving out of Turkey too. Is that Brexit "bullcrap"? Whereas, the EU/J*p deal is a good point. Their President said as such... "there is now little benefit to manufacture in Europe". I respectfully suggest the word "Europe" here is important.

There was a story on BBC Breakfast this morning the didn’t manage to link to Brexit ‘shocker’; it eas a new test for sepsis... I was so surprised I mentioned it to the wife who immediately replied, reminding me that Brexit was all my fault anyway! Instantly I felt better!

im sorry but I don't believe a word of it, I agree that it's probably not just a single reason for closing the plant, however, the financial benefit for having a plant in the uk is reduced, and I do believe that they also mentioned last year that they would loses 10's of millions of pounds should we exit without a deal

Brexit probably sped the process up but Honda are leaving Swindon as part of a global downscaling operation. Honda really have been on their knees for the past few years if anything one could argue that they never really recovered from the misery of the 2000's where all they produced was eco boxes and nearly pulled out of motorsport entirely... Then the tsunami that destroyed half of their motorbike factory in Japan.

For me not completely a Brexit issue.
I believe the business man Takahiro.
The car industry is struggling everywhere due to lack of clarity with Diesel, the Electric 'revolution', Hydrogen waiting in the wings sales downturn (hence the push for lease deals) etc etc.
I will concede though that Brexit does have an influence. As is always the case the real reasons are many and complex

Remainer: See all those job loses?? I told you brexit was going to cost jobs to this country and really impact people livelihood. You wanted it, now you have it.
Leaver: No way, that would have happened anyway... the world economy is slowing down and AI is taking jobs away! It’s Theresa May’s fault. If we had just left w WTO terms, it would have been much better etc... etc... etc...

I am already sick of the idea of the stupid and sterile debates that are coming down the pipe
