Brera Spider advice

Thank you all for the above comments and suggestions

Jamie Porter recommended Lawrence at Autolusso due to distance, parts and time scale.

Need to call Lawrence back tomorrow he was not in today., see what he says.

Will see if we can do what Phil recommends.

Then there is a for alfa to try also, as they known on here.

I was feeling negative yesterday but due to the above comments etc want to try to get it repaired obviously dependant on cost.

Quick update - have spoken to Autolusso and after the conversation with Laurence all looks hopeful - as I expected they are busy so will have to wait until early October.

At least now I have some more contacts for my Alfas if needed in the future.

Once again thanks to all.

It appears that the cylinder may have got flooded causing the misfire and it not being run after the parts fitted as it should have been.

So being told it shouldn't be driven and it looked like a serious engine fault was a shock, plus it was rough when driving it home, sluggish etc.in fact awful.

It was trailered down and at the time it was collected was told it sounded like it was firing fully on all 6.

Was called on Monday and told no charge as nothing wrong with the car.
Even though no fault was found I requested the plugs to be changed with the recommended ones and compression testing to be redone.

All came out at the same right rate. Had a full health check while there and just a couple of minor recommendations came up.

Waxoil underneath to preserve the good condition and front fog lights slightly yellowing. So great for a 16 year old car.

Costly and not a great experience, had another one lately also, Giulia QF up for its 1st mot only done 3500 miles failed on emissions. Could not believe it and let off steam at the dealership.

Day after it failed I received an apology as the test was not done correctly.

Just couldn't make it up.

Maybe I should just get another British bike again as I have a home mechanic.

Sounds like it had not had the emissions cheat software loaded at the factory ! ;)

On a more serious note. How the flip does a trained MOT inspector hash up the emissions test procedure. Its not like they dont have a very specific set of instructions to follow. Have you checked to see if the online MOT history shows a fail ? If it does they need to correct that in a very short time frame with the DFT.

That could put a private buyer off at somepoint in the future when the context of the fail has been lost.

Gets better didn't think to check but the 2 same failures are showing as major defects.
Oh what joy another mess to sort.
Thanks for the heads up on this

I've heard good things about Autolusso in Bournemouth. They might be worth a shot if you're willing to travel a bit. Just a thought, but they could probably give you a better idea of what's really going on.
