They are wooden! From my biking days I've always liked an initial 'bite' when pulling on the brakes. ( I could always do a better stoppie than a wheelie!) OEM does not have it and you need to gently push the brake pedal to achieve an adequate amount of initial braking power. The above advice is perfectly sound to use Mintex etc.

If your brakes are squealing then it's either down to a lack of copperslip on the BACK or they are starting to crumble. I had a set in mine that just fell apart when I pulled them out to inspect them. OEM are safe but there's better and safer out there !

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I‘ll let them get checked, maybe its only the lack of copperslip.

If not tracked, yellows would be my choice while for bedding it needs long time and strict procedure.

See #9:
https://ebcbrakes.com/about-ebc/faqs/

At track neither yellow, nor blue ndx did not last. Yellows did integrate, blues faded to min just in 20 mins x2 track time of which 40% was about cooling. Big Brake Kit is only solution.

Thank u for the information! i dont use my car on track. At the moment i dont have any squealing in the brakes. Maybe it was there because when i bought the car it was standing for a long time.

Any more suggestions for brake pad alternatives?
I read on this forum that a few years ago there used to be a belfast company having pads.
Are there any others? Or just go for the red/yellow stuff ones?

My personal favourite for the 4200 was Ferodo, but others like the yellow. As above, avoid Reds.

Havent been that impressed by EBC Yellow Stuff. I will be fitting DS2500's when I change the discs to see if these are any better..
EBC are fine for everyday driving but this is a quick car and if you wind them up and then need to stop in a hurry....the brakes arent exactly awe inspiring. They need all the help they can get !
I have a full set of EBC Yellow Stuff rears still in the box Id be happy to shift ifthere's anyone in the UK wants them...?

I can confirm that the DS2500 are very good. But they don’t have a pocket for the brake wear indicator, just so you know.

Can anyone enlighten us as to the Ferodo part numbers please ?
Im not finding them listed for either the 4200 or coupe...

That was for the 3200. I thought as the discs were the same that the calipers would be similar enough or the same to have the same pads. Looks like my assumption may be wrong.

Its possible that the absence of provision for a pad wear indicator is the reason but the rears are also coming up as not compatible..
Other sites state the rears as a fit for the Spyder, which I am assuming is the same as the 4200 coupe TBH. Maybe Spyder doesnt refer to the 4200/GS version bit something else. Alot of sites get it wrong and Im fed up with computer generated errors..
Someone will surely know...?

The pads are the same for all 3200 and 4200 variants. They are some spurious selections but the numbers above are the right ones as far as I know.

The pads design is the first set of letters and the suffix letter is the compound.
