Brake Discs (Yes another thread)

A simple question that's been bugging me for some time...... why on earth is it so difficult (i.e impossible right now) to get hold of pattern 3200\4200\GS brake discs?

The discs themselves are not complex 2 piece items - simply run of the mill standard single piece construction. Surely any number of companies can make these without much effort, but why don't they?

Is it some obscure licencing issue, a technical problem, or simply lack of demand and therefore profit?

Interested to hear opinions.

The consensus view is that they are licensed to Brembo and Maerati have put on the pressure to ensure that they aren't sold cheap.

Personally I don't believe a word of it.

If that was the case the first batch made for SM would have resulted in a major legal battle no ?

Check the alternative parts thread there are a few sources of disks i think, they are the same as a Ferrari 550 or some thing like that and these are available,or were when i last looked. I found several places with pattern parts. Has this all evaporated?

For anyone looking for 3200/4200 discs eurospares are showing £128 for fronts and £125 for rears not sure Maserati discs have ever been that cheap, all plus vat.

Yes, 550 discs are the same and normally cheaper, if they can be found

I suggest reading some of the threads from 2010-2012 using the search function... the forum collective discovered this some time ago and suddenly the stock of the Brembo f550 brake went dry...

I wonder why. . It's not that FCA would waste their time looking on forums like this *ahem*cough*#theyarewatchingus
