Great work
How difficult is it to get the pistons back into the caliper?

thank you.
Not too hard, used compressed air to pop them out and with some proper brake Caliper rebuild lube they go in easily.
The dust covers are very good so keep the pistons in good shape

Trouble is there just way too small for the weight of say a 3200, 4200, same as the old Alfa 166
Maybe its all Brembo had on the shelf when the 3200 was introduced back in 98

I fitted stainless steel pistons to my Triumph Stag calipers when I rebuilt them 30 years ago.
Like new when I changed the pads 2 years ago, so a worthwhile mod.

The guys in the RB were extremely kind that they acquired the caliper and confirmed the size of the pistons.

However, I've found out that they had some quality issues in the past.
The problems seem to be fixed by now, but I can't trust them as a supplier of the highly critical brake system.

As with all things, nothing is for nothing...!
Solve one problem and create the potential for another....
Stainless and aluminium are a poor match. Just ask the periodic table....
Id be asking if it's really absolutely necessary to mess with Brembo's excellent braking systems 'cos something you read on the ?trackday forum...!

Love the call on the Periodic Table! Reminds me of the issue with tunnel lights in the Boston Big Dig.

Over 4 years after my first post I’ve finally got round to fitting the overhauled calipers - (well one so far!)
different shade of red but won’t be too noticeable…

And I am currently waiting for parts to rebuild my second set. Calipers had full strip and paint. New stainless pistons from Hills, new seals all round, new hard pipes to flexi. Just waiting on Mr Bigg Redd for the rear seals and rebuild will commence followed by photo's to annoy some on here. ;) Oh and criminally expensive front pads too. This is a >2k rebuild.
