Hi, just bought a 2008 GranTurismo today - already done 200 miles and loving it!

Something odd though, where the cigarette lighter should be, next to the ash tray is a button with a phone symbol on it - does anyone know what this is ?!

Wanted to charge my mobile and can't!

Thanks,

Welcome and congratulations. Photos are always requested so feel free.

To answer your question, I'm not sure! The early cars didn't have bluetooth phone connection so it might be that a previous owner has retro fitted a phone kit? I had a 2008 car and it had the 12v socket.

There is a SIM card slot there on early HW7 Units where you can use your SIM for phone calls. This was because there was no BT option on the earlier cars.

Thanks all, more investigation reveals that it's an aftermarket Bluetooth adapter.....and it works!!

Also, the first button has been replaced next to the steering wheel, see pic. I don't know what it does other making a beeping noise when you press it!! Don't have the manual

Cheers.

I got one in my QP! It's a speed camera detector! Have a look in front grill for the receiver.

Don't think I ever seen a speed camera here in Ireland, they do exist, van ones and handheld, never seen one on a pole or the evil average speed ones. Pretty backward here, Irish-regged cars have these three-pocket little holders on the windscreen, one for NCT (MOT), one for Motor Tax (RFL) and one for Insurance (Insurance). How quaint!

A few weeks ago Ireland got it's first ever air ambulance.

So it's not just me that's noticed this - no fixed cameras. There used to be one on the M1 around Drogheda in 2008, but it's since been removed. Plenty of mobile vans and parked up Garda with handheld, but the on-coming traffic are pretty reliable for flashing to let you know they are there.

To be honest, three years or so here (Dubs) I've not even seen a Garda van or handheld, just heard about them. Been stopped loads of times on way to ferry, usually after Hutch-Kinahan incident.

Tip, when parked in the Circle-K or the McD's at the airport and those tw@ts with clip boards who clamp you but not the taxis who use it as a carpark just tell them the car belongs to the Kinahan gang, or Hutch gang depending on where you get your drugs from. They won't touch it...

Dan's a fantastic man!

This is the car I drive here in Ireland, I think it can pull off the drug dealer look so could be on to a winner there.

How u get away with that plate! Usual Garda lack of movement?! I've seen a lot of Irish regged cars with faux yellow plates here , like 11-DL-11111 but yellow on rear, mostly from Counties near the the border, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan etc, gardai never stop them.

Might change my (NI) plate to chrome on black, sure the gardai won't know it no legal (in UK)...

If questioned on the 'plates I just point out that they will see from my driving license that I am from Essex, and as they've probably seen on telly, things are different there and these plates are completely legal...
Normally once they hear my accent (not Irish) so long as it's just a check point they lose interest pretty quickly anyway.

And like all good drug dealers/getaway drivers, I have a second set of 'plates in the boot... Yellow and white ones, not ones with a different reg
