Boot lock issue

Hi I wonder if anyone can help please? ive just bought an 08 Qp gt executive and received it yesterday via transporter. Had great comms with seller but the car has a light on saying boot lid open and number plate light out. The boot lid is shut tight but i cant lock the car via remote and when i lock via the key you can still open the car using the switch on the right on the exterior handle? The car had been sat for a while so the battery could have been flat at some point. Ive taken it to a dealership specialist ( not Maserati anymore) and he says its the wiring in the boot and these are notorious for snapping? Im all new to this so any help would be brilliant? Ive read about battery resets so would this work and if so how do you do one?
thanks in advance

Sure I’ve seen somewhere that a reset of the body computer needs resetting if the battery has been flat. I’m sure someone much more knowledgeable than me will comment.

HI Reeceb.

If i recall correctly if the battery has gone flat the boot lock and door locks and windows can go out of sync.

You can reset it. Its along the lines of on the fob. Press quickly the open button then close button then press and hold the boot release button until you hear the actuator. It resets the body computer and syncs the windows and doors.

Thats as much as i can remember.

Im sure Matt or a QP owner will be able to advise the exact procedure.

Hi Reeceb

I found the full reset procedure. Steps below.

  1. Turn car off and close all the doors
  2. Open the trunk lid
  3. Manually switch the locking mechanism to its locked position
  4. With your right hand depress the spring (with black rubber) and hold down (body control computer now thinks the trunk is closed)
  5. While holding down the spring with your right hand, use your left hand to lock and arm the doors using the key fob
  6. Still holding the spring, unlock the doors using the key fob. You may need to lock/unlock a few times.
  7. Once you hear the trunk mechanism working, unlock all doors and close the trunk lid. The power pull down should now work.
  8. The trunk lid has now successfully been reprogrammed

Hopefully that will cure the problem for you.

Hi tried it this morning to no avail! Doesnt seem to be getting any power to it? Boot button next to steering wheel boot opener on fob and boot switch itself have nothing oh and the number plate light out indicator is on ? Could it be a fuse and if do coukd anyone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks

Thats sounding more like the wiring harness between the boot and body may have broken wires or fuse. It should tell you in the handbook which fuse to check.
