Boot lid stuck and battery disconnected!

Hi Chaps, due to the cold snap I haven’t driven the GT for a couple of weeks, but took it for a spin earlier today and saw a couple of warning lights appear on the dash. Got home and was going to attempt the battery disconnect-reconnect method to try and reset the warning lights. However after disconnecting the battery, i accidentally closed the boot lid (got distracted) and now I can’t get it open! I’ve tried to open it using the manual boot release cable in the footwell behind the passenger seat, but the cable doesn’t work! :( Any suggestions please?

I have had the car on trickle charge intermittently over the past 2 weeks (weather permitting as it’s parked outdoors) and most recently for about 5 hours on Thursday so I was hoping all would be well for the drive today!

Well if it’s been charged as you describe I think your battery is knackered.

The only other suggestion I have is “pull harder” on the release cable as I don’t think there is another way in.

The battery isn’t knackered, I’ve disconnected the negative terminal latch and stupidly shut the boot lid whilst distracted :( And my hands are now sore from pulling my hardest on the release cable!

As it’s a GT I don’t think there is a key locking mechanism on the boot, but please correct me if I’m wrong or I’ve misunderstood!

The only way to open the boot when the battery is flat, without causing damage, is to use the manual boot release, which you've tried I know. It will be stiff. You may hurt your fingers pulling on it. And it's not very intuitive (you don't really know if your pulling correctly). But it's the only way. And I don't think there's another way to boost the battery remotely. That's why the manual release cord is there.

It's a ring, try feeding a screw driver through the ring to get more leverage.

I wonder if there is a way to ”power” up the car from under the bonnet (even if the battery is in the boot).

Contacted an indie and he’s going to pop over as soon as to get it sorted!
