Sounds like a broken wire possibly in the connector that the boot handle connects too. I cant figure out why else the internal boot release would work and not the handle.

The normal weak spot would be the flex conduit from the body to the boot. But unless the boot handle is a seperate circuit to the internal boot release i cant see why that would still work.

Well I assume the switches are in parallel?

It might be sensible to check there is 12v on one of the switch terminals and a good ground on the other

Watching with interest Ryandoc.
My QP boot will only open using the key.
The boot button packed up altogether. New mechanism and button fixed it for a while.
The dashboard button does "work" as I can hear the solenoid fire. Boot will only open with someone to lift it (bent bottled in reverse parking conflict).
The keyfob button for boot seems to only increase the level of frustration in my brain, so only press it now for self-flagellation.

The wiring loom was trapped in the boot lid seal for most of it's life so could well be frayed. Odd that dash button does fire.

Conclusion? four of every hundred Italian electrical installations are haunted.

That sounds very much like your boot latch/buffers need adjusting.

^^. the boot lid and latch certainly do need adjusting. After my rear shunt the boot would not even close!
The boot button out of action is a a PITA. Have to use the key to access the boot. Only need to get in there when battery needs top up charge so not that often.
EVERY week :)

Slight adjustment to mechanics, bump stops mainly. Boot now opens on demand using dash button or key fob. The boot handle still inoperative. Of course the battery is back on charge after several tiring operations.
Every day is a school day. Two out of three ain't bad.

Fingers crossed with yours.

I might have another nosey but given it’s winter, lockdown and the key works. I sense mine may stay like this till it’s next garage visit lol
