It's a 222 4v, isn't ? Beautiful car. For n°6 check also the position of the distributor, the rotor arm spark can reach another cylinder plug at low advance. Besides the new rotor arms on the market are sometimes bad copy. You may ask who is the seller and get the old one..
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it's the lovely dark blue 4v that's been on car & classic and Ebay for months.
Luckily he left the old rotor, cap and leads which to be honest apart from one odd lead appear to be better quality than the new ones, which were over £600 from Eurospares. The new leads don't "click" into the cap or coils, not great at that money.
Interesting about the spark jumping to another cylinder, I haven't heard of that before. I don't think the distributor was disturbed when he fitted the new kit but it's worth a look. It is getting a spark down the No6 lead during the misfire in this case though, I checked with a timing light clamp on the lead.
I'm still hoping it's a faulty injector, or it could get very expensive!

i had a 327 chev 40 years ago with similar fault it turned out to be plug leads fitted in wrong holder two sparks going vertualy at the same time and one would draw the other making it miss placed them in wright holder ,fixed ,worth looking at.

I usually put the spark plug wire cap back on before plugging the wire in to be sure it is set in properly as the after market cap may be too wide to easily slide into position.

Update on the troubled treble 2..
Despite the new cap and lead set being a terrible fit ( I think they really do need returning to Eurospares) the misfire on No6 was caused by a knackered injector. Getting the full set professionally cleaned will happen in the future but for now a lightly used Ebay replacement is doing the job. It was from a Ducati motorbike so will be low mileage!
It's a massive relief to hear her on 6 pots again, albeit with a whining turbo on one side.. That's going to have to wait until the GTV 3.0 is gone. If there's any Alfa fans out there looking for a busso let me know, it's a good un.103641103642103643

I'm going to be realistic and be looking at around 5k.
There's a few jobs to do before it goes - fitting the new Koni sport struts, springs all round, refurbished rear spring pans.. It's got a full stainless exhaust, a mix of reggazon and Alfaholics, sounds great but not deafening. New cambelt, solid flywheel, over 10k of receipts!
I know, I should keep that and sell the 222!

It does sound great but while there are many GTVs if you should later change your mind, there are just 10 UK RHD 222s…
It’s why I was tempted, but my heart’s set on a Cup.

My heart would definitely be set on a Cup too if funds allowed!
The 222 is a keeper, I've been kicking myself for years for not buying one of several Ghiblis I viewed back when they were in my budget. Anyone remember the turquoise one with bottle green interior for sale at Mansfield many moons ago? I got him down to 3k and my 156 v6, then walked away!
I know the 222 will always have the cat C hanging over it but it's more about having something presentable that I can drive now, rather than it's future value.

I am kicking myself for not having bought any of 222 4V which were offered to me 8-10 years ago (?), in good running conditions, the first for 7ke the other for 10ke: finally a) no space to park them, b) the 420SI is enough to spend my time.
Not to remind the spider last gen, from spain (11ke) 2 ghibli GT 2l8 (less than 10ke), 3200 etc.
It was the golden age and you could still find some parts at Maserati's :)

This popped up - bit of an unknown....Lots of sitting around off the road since 2005. Might make a donor for s better car at the right price...?

I hate white cars usually but that’s rather appealing.
Are these the three-valve head 225bhp (cat) 250bhp (sans cat) engine?

This one is a 2 litre so it’s rated at 220bhp, only the non-cat 2.8 18v and all 24v 2 litre cars (no non-cat version) were rated at 250bhp. That particular car is quite unusual in that it’s a later car with the Marcello Gandini styling (often known as a series 2 or a “restyling”) but only has the 18v engine. Most 2 litre coupes of this era would have been the 24 valve 2.24v, although the 2 litre 18v continued to be fitted to Spyders for the Italian domestic market as well as a few other markets such as Greece. Only 50 Spyders were built with the 2 litre 24v engine and are very sought after and expensive. This particular car is registered with the DVLA as a Racing and I remember having quite a heated debate with the owner many years ago about how it couldn’t possibly be a Racing due to the colour, engine code, cosmetic features, interior etc

Incorrect steering wheel centre and gearknob, Cup tailpipes are also not correct for a Primatist ☹

yep but all fixable. Also misses the badges on the side. Was wondering if it had the double or Cup tailpipes standard. So was double?

Pretty opportunistic priced. More for a real Cup I think and then still will take some time.

This one is for sale a long time but has higher mileage. Looks decent though (at least on pictures)

Primatist decals are present on the first one, zoom in on photograph 8. Yes steering wheel is easily addressed but gear knob not so easy, you’d have to find a standard 6 speed gearknob then use it as a pattern to make one from the correct burr maple as opposed to the usual rosewood or briarwood. Yes two exhaust pipes on each side would be the original exhausts on a Primatist, it was effectively just a GT with a fancy paint job and interior. Cup Speedline split rims were the only factory option, some cars had GT rims.

€70-80k is where current asking prices are at the moment, whether these prices are achieved I’m not sure. The Primatist is very sought after by collectors, and with only 35 made they don’t come up for sale very often.

The Ponzio one has been on sale for at least two and a half years, and has gone up by about 10k since Padova last year.
