Mc grath for a full appraisal then take it from there. but smalls paint on the headlights, tyres are 2007, need changing, clutch is a bit stiff, and interior needs some freshening up, headlinner is hanging and boot release not working etc..bits and bobs. doesn't need more power, not sure if it has abs, but prob upgrade the brakes too. id love to tone down the interior, its pretty full on...any ideas ?

Please don't tone down the interior - it's utterly fabulous! Can you tell me the exact size of your wheel / tyre combo please? For some time various people have been telling me that the Mille Miglia wheels on your Ghibli will not fit my 430, but I found this photo last year....

As above, please don't do anything to the interior other than restoration to original spec, the beautiful interiors are all part of the charm of the Biturbo era and in my opinion are much better than even the current models.
McGrath will look after you well and have a lot of experience with these cars. Electronic suspension units can be rebuilt by David Askew or Koni themselves.

@dickyb it’s been a while is that Alfa finished yet?

Hello Matt, hope you’re ok. Unfortunately I haven’t even seen the car for nearly 3 years, it’s currently in a car storage facility. The bodyshop owner filed for bankruptcy so all of his debts were written off. I lost a five figure sum, so motivation to start a restoration for a third time isn’t exactly high. This will now easily end up being a fifty grand 33 which is getting a bit daft but I’ve started so I’ll finish. I’m aiming to try to start again next year and am hoping for the car to be back on the road for it’s 30th birthday in 2024, but I wouldn’t hold your breath ☹

Well the light metallic blue Cup in the Cotswolds has sold. Was tying myself up in knots about whether to bite the bullet and finance it to the hilt, but that would leave me with little wiggle room if it needed money throwing at it immediately. Did anyone on here buy it?

Anyway, here's a car I've driven when it was with @dickygrace – lovely car, what five or so years ago? I'd spent six hours in an air conditioned Volvo hire car, got in a very hot 90s Maserati interior and blood pressure fell off a cliff. Still, was a good car.

I’ve been tentatively following the market for years for a Ghibli and in the past enquired about this one. I think it’s been around the block a few times with regards to being on the market, which puts me off.

Was just about to say the same. I sold it twice, last time about 5-6 years ago. It was a good car, I bought it from @Arfa who’d really lavished money on it.

@dickygrace just re read my comment and it wasn’t aimed at you :), it was more about it being on the market a few times over the past f”5-6 years. I’m sure it was for sale only last year? It may still be a great car for the right buyer.

No, I know it wasn’t aimed at me whatsoever. Just a shame it’s been passed around so much.

£15-18k estimate is a lot with 10% + vat commission on top. I think you’d be looking to get into a Ghibli GT at close to £20k. It’s also listed as having ABS, which it won’t have being a ‘Non-abs’ ‘94MY car.

It’s also listed as having ABS, which it won’t have being a ‘Non-abs’ ‘94MY car.

That version would be known as a Series 1a, whilst it may have been registered in 1994 it’s certainly not a MY94. In fact, for the UK market, the MY94 was unofficially known as the MY95 because they weren’t sold in the UK until 1995.
The main differences between a Series 1a and a MY94 are:

ABS - Series 1a does not have ABS, MY94 does have ABS

Wheels - Series 1a has the Shamal style wheels by OZ, MY94 has 16” Merak style wheels by Mille Miglia. The pcd is different between a Series 1a and a MY94

Headlights - a Series 1a has silver backed headlights, a MY94 has black backed headlights

Bumpers - the Series 1a has a more distinctive band around the top section

Trident badge on bootlid - Series 1a has a plain Trident, MY94 Trident has an oval surround

Fuel fillers - Series 1a usually has a Trident badge on each side (one on the fuel filler and one on the dummy on the left side of the car), the MY94 does not have these

Steering wheel badge - Series 1a has a rectangular badge, MY94 has an oval badge

Carpets - Series 1a has herringbone carpets, MY94 has more conventional turfted type carpet

Dashboard inlay on passenger side - Series 1a has “Maserati” inlay, MY94 has “Ghibli”,

It came up for sale last year and I was chatting with one of the previous owners on PH about it, I was tempted but just wasn't quick enough. A nice example by all accounts.

Out of curiosity Dicky - is the pcd on those MY94 Mille Miglias the same as on a '92 Biturbo 430? I have a photo of a 430 on MMs and would love to put a set on mine, but am not sure whether they'll fit or not.
