biturbo (and ghibli?) side mirror motor?

Hi,

My 2.24v right side mirror motor is bust, and I'm trying to find a new mechanishm. Maserati parts manual states the whole mirror as "assembly"...

It is almost the same as a standard unit used in many VW etc, but a bit different. Ford Mustang -87-93 seems to have the exact same one E9SZ-17D696-A, but all stores say "discontinued for that part number".

Just wondering have anyone else here had same issue - anyone know a alternate part number? Or should I just mod the car to use more common mechanism? Its easy job, but would need a new mirror as well there. VW unit has bit different mirror attachment.

I ended up fixing it with some glue, wire and soldering iron. Should be ok for awhile at least.

Still should keepeyes open where you could buy such a new motor, I don't think the fix will last forever.

I guess the other option would be to by a whole Mustang wing mirror, they seem to be about $90 new.

Thats a lot for the motor, almost similar units used in many cars (like Peugeot etc) cost about £10...

Last time I replaced one in a BMW it was about £80 so didnt think it was too bad. Daft thing was the motor was fine but because of the way it wired into the body control module it did weird things with the seat memory when it was cold!
