I really can’t wait , I have read and watched loads of stuff for a while now , 2 out of the three things deffo seems to be the way to go , didn’t fancy disturbing the cats really .

Thanks Fifty , do the bolts just screw straight into the bodywork or is there some kind of plastic insert ?
They felt like they were being gripped , maybe just by rust and wheel crud .

Here you go the bracket looks like this with the liner off and a sheared screw stuck in it...

Yes 2 out of the three is def the rule of thumb . You wont go wrong there . Three out of three might be funny though . I might do the last third for Le Mans this year lol

Interesting - am I right in saying that the back box mod only changes the sound when in Sport mode?

I have an H-pipe to go on my GS, and am going to do that first to see how much difference it makes. I’m not all that keen on not being able to return the car to be completely stock, so am hesitant about doing the back-box modification.

What happens is the internal perforated pipe is replaced for solid so in SPORT, there is no deadening, its straight out. Out of SPORT remains unchanged.

Its a great little upgrade, do it!

Yes , what conaero said , my Spyder hasn’t got the valved back boxes , the sport button doesn’t make any difference volume wise to my car .
I thought the same , about not being able to return to standard , so I bought a separate set of back boxes and had them modified instead of my set .
I have an X pipe fitted too , it really doesn’t add much to the volume but it lets out the crackle and pop really nicely .

Funny - I had spoken to someone about buying a spare set of back boxes as well, but it’s £1000+ and that feels an unnecessary expense right now...

I will fit the H-pipe and see how that sounds, and then take it from there.

They occasionally come up for less I managed to get my used GS boxes off eBay for £550 delivered. They were a bit dirty with rusted fastenings but they cleaned up very well

They have come up great Shoghi.............I find polishing very satisfying especially when the end result is like that. I did the writing and logo on the cam cover of my Fiat the other day with wet& dry and then polish. Came up quite nice but not as good as stainless steel. Try contacting Benny D for the 'X' pipe, he got me my 'H' pipe for a very reasonable price.
First pic is not mine but it did look the same as mine before I started.

Below is what will be going on my car initially.... to my untrained eye it looks like it’s a good quality piece of kit, and will be interesting to hear how it sounds...

Looks good. A steam cleaner should lift the last of that crud around thr oil filler cap.

I have already ordered it looking forward to binning that asymmetric piece of **** "x pipe"... I'm taking it down to the smelter... Not even going to give it away for free it shouldn't be on any Maserati!
