Just got these back on Sunday .
The plan was to fit them today but the rain kind of stopped play , I jacked the car up and got the wheel off ok but the wheel arch liner was a different story , then it started to rain so I bunged it all back together and put her back in the garage .
At least I managed to give the wheel a good clean , fitted a new set of wheel bolts and cleaned up the wheel arch area a bit , also my neighbour wandered over and I ended up buying his old Clarke trolley jack off him .

Are they modified to noisy hooligan mode? Suspicious access panels welded in by the looks..

Nice job. Where did you have those cleaned if you don't mind me asking?
They were done by a guy advertising on E-bay , Jason , he is a welder and fabricator specialising in stainless steel , he has done a fantastic job on my set , I just hope they sound as good as they look .

Spot on , yes they are , when they are back on the car the weld will be on top so not visible , they will just look like standard boxes , can’t wait to hear them .

Try an impact screwdriver: https://www.screwfix.com/p/hilka-pr...hdqL6ZtMr0nU1QXJSI_RLK-JJz7d7w6BoC2lkQAvD_BwE

This didn't work on mine so I ended up just drilling them out. If you are careful when drilling you can use a healicoil thread repair

The set is a bit expensive but very useful to have when working on an older car.

What did you have done?
To be honest Gazcw , I am not really sure , he said he has done a few of these and they sounded good , not f@rt in a bean tin or anything droney , when I asked if they were simply straight through he said that there was a bit more to it than that , must admit , his welding is fantastic , some of the studs were sheared off on mine and he replaced them with stainless bolts , welded on the inside of the brackets so they don’t turn , the re-welded seams are a work of art .

Thanks Fifty , do the bolts just screw straight into the bodywork or is there some kind of plastic insert ?
They felt like they were being gripped , maybe just by rust and wheel crud .
