Bimota being sold to fund GS repairs

A man took away my bike today, to recommission then sell. Its been under a dust sheet for 20 years waiting for 'the right moment', which never really came. Now, with a GranSport needing rust repairs (and maybe rinkydink new suspension) its time to move it on. My wife helped with the decision, using technical phrases such as,81976 'old git', 'dreaming', 'how many hobbies do you you need' and 'you look after the kids, I've had enough.' I pointed out that Maserati owners are, at heart, romantics, but that seemed to trigger a throwing response so we agreed to leave it there.

So that's one expensive and impractical Italian has gone so another can keep on going. A growing up moment of sorts. Maybe!

Fingers crossed it works out for you with regards to being a 20 year financial investment, even if it didn't quite work out as a bike to use.

Beautiful motorbike, I have a thing with Ducati. When I sold my 998s (for very similar reasons) I replaced it with a nice Italian road bicycle. Its not the same but helps.

So trivia question, no googling. What is the origin of the name Bimota?
Bonus questions, what the origins of the fellow Italian motorcycle firms of Cagiva and Aprilia? One should be easy on this forum.

3 Italian engineers made up the name Bi mo ta, either ending or beginning 2 letters of each name but I can’t remember what they were TAmborini was one. Was Bianci another? Morrisio the third?
2 of them went on to design the Cagiva or Aprilia bikes. (Also MV??)
one died a couple of years ago.
How did I do without googling?
Mine was a Suzuki GS1000 engine in their race designed frame. They managed to trim about 30kg off the Suzuki‘s weight as well as handling like it was on rails.

Pretty good there, it was Valerio BIanchi, Giuseppe MOrri, and Massimo TAmburini.

But what about CA-GI-VA and Aprilia? (clue for the first)
