Having gloss black wheels, everytime I wash my wheels the brake discs turn ginger with light surface rust.
The result is my clean black wheels then become speckled ginger ones instantly.
I've therefore discovered Bilt Hamber Atom mac which is an anti corrosive solution that is designed to prevent this if applied before washing wheels, and then also after. Will also help prevent brake hub corrosion and sticking brakes, plus can be used to spray under the car to neutralise salt spray etc.
The Maser is in hibernation but the BMW also suffers from the same issue so will be giving it a try.
Thought I would share as only just discovered it.

be careful as a lot of the wheel clean stuff contains acid and will create corrosion, big culprits are hand car wash sites

I use Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner that is pH neutral non acid.
Stopped using wonder wheels years ago!

that sounds like good stuff, I bought some similar stuff at this years autosport international show, 5 litre tub, my beemer has the gloss black wheels and i've always made sure that I either just shampoo clean the wheels or use a water based non corrosive product

Out of interest guys, how do we rate the bilt hamber stuff in general? I'm looking to get under the 32 to tidy up some areas so I was looking at hydrate 80, Electrox ,Dynax s50 for internal and dynax ub for the exterior,

I use their snow foam stuff, diluted at 4% and squirted on with a bog-standard garden sprayer (which gets used for nothing else, by the way). Works an absolute treat.

For corrosion prevention, I have an unused can of ACF50 which I'll slosh round underneath at some point soon.

I do use Bilt Hamber for the cleaning stuff, but have used https://www.rust.co.uk for rust conversion, and 2-pack epoxy top coat, for the chassis of my Mitsubishi Pinin.
Purely because of long term magazine reviews of such products.
For cavity wax, Noxudol 700, again being top award winners, although all my vehicles have a right mix of products used on them over the years.
I also use ACF50, and the engine bays of all my cars are drenched in the stuff every year!

Thanks MJ will look into those, honestly it's a bit of a nightmare choosing the correct product , I only want to do it once (yearly recovers pending)

For keeping wheels clean, Poorboys wheel wax (I forgot what they call it) is pretty good. Cheap, too. I also use some on the calipers. Whilst the ceramic brakes don't give off any dust, they still accumulate dirt and some carefully applied wax helps make the task of cleaning it off again much faster.

I was thinking of spraying suspension components.

I'd like something that protects but isn't sticky.

Most products protect by being a grease, but, it then makes road grime, dust and debris stick to your suspension, which isn't the result I'm looking for.

I think Atom Mac works well on discs, but only if applied after every wash, or whenever they get wet, as obviously, the brakes burn off the protection. Wondering on other components if it's lasts longer?
