This car has been for sale for ages on and off. Probably due to a combination of asking price and marmite trim.

Current owner bought it last year. Since then has had a baby and hasn’t used the car. He’s also sold the red Aston shown in the background. I’ll report further once I’ve seen it up close.

Matt. The original ex Malborough car indeed had poor repairs to the rear as well as a 4/5 year service gap due to little use and tight pockets.

Had it not been so the car would have been mine when up for sale in Slough about five years back.

The ex Marlborough car has been advertised in Welwyn for a few months. They still have it:

Took a shufty a while back and the service history, if that is the correct terminology, is poor. That is being generous.

Different cars, from different years, different supplying dealers, with different interiors, different rear spoilers, different previous owners, etc. So they are, indeed, different.

At under £25k with that mileage, spec & a new clutch is the history so bad? Buy it, keep it for 5 years and ensure it is properly care for during your stewardship and does what went before matter so much? If this is the BF car with the unevenly matched paint, then that could be an issue.

The dealer's statement that a new clutch has been fitted appears to be based on nothing more than a Proforma invoice amongst the paperwork. Dated two years ago from a non specialist garage. You'd have to question if the work had actually been done.

The history does not inspire confidence to say the least. Nor the dealer to be blunt. There's another recent thread with more detail kicking around.

Edit: Service history details

So, potentially, this cheaper (dealer) car has not been seen by a Maserati trained mechanic (nor a Maserati computer) for a decade. Not confidence inspiring.

Did you go to see it Ewan? It’s still on eBay, and a friend of mine might be interested.

Sounds like a bit of a project car to me. Rare trim might make it worth it to someone but it would have to be a keeper.

Advert says it has a skyhook error warning light on the dash. Admits it has been left standing for a month; reality will be longer

With the patchy history I would be worried about the F1 transmission - even if it did have a clutch change at a non-specialist garage - what about the gearbox oil and filter or the f1 hydraulic system itself not being properly maintained. Beyond that skipped annual engine oil changes are dangerous for a dry sump engine... The state of aux belt will be quite telling on when it last had a major service

I didn’t go to see it the end, as the owner was going on holiday at the key time I had available. It’s near Exeter, so about an hour and half west of me. It’s been for sale for at least 5 months, and the white/blue colourway does limit its market. But I like it.

Makes me laugh when sellers say they have reduced the price and state it is a bargain as if it is a fact. Also that if they don't sell it then they will keep it or put the price up. Bound to sell the isn't it?!

There is a dealer on AT that puts....'Just in grab it early at the early bird price...once it's gone it's gone'.........What a stupid thing to say. So if it doesn't sell they will put the price up.
