Hi Maserati friends. It's been a while since I posted here. I just picked up my new 1990 Swiss model 228i which has been standing in a garage in Stockholm for about a year since I bought it in Madrid. Now it is imported to Oslo and the work to get it on the road will begin soon.

The original flat "disc" wheel rims is to boring to look at, that I can't look at my car. They seem very small for the test of the car's design. I am looking for some 17" rims so make it look better. But which ones? Anyone having seen a 228 with good looking wheels. They don't need to be original Maserati wheels, but should not look too unoriginal either...

The paint is solid black without metallic and a bit rouch with several damages etc. and the black plastic bumper inserts disappear completely. I am actually thinking of changing color on the car. Which light color would fit this car? I want to use an original Maserati color!
The engine has been left unattended for 10-12 years with water in obe or two cylinders, so I am looking for a spare engine. Anyone have a 2,8 3v engine? From Karif, 222E, SE, 430 or 228i...!?

The flat discs seem to be the preferred standard, but five-pointed (or seven-) stars or a ''ring of holes' are also seen on this era of Maseratis.

What about these 7x17 wheels? Looks quite decent and not too agressive... Just a thought :)

Oh, if you want something more modern, Work Emotion Wheels in Japan can do Maserati bolt pattern. The have a nice and friendly UK reseller, Driftworks.
I got myself M8R 18" like this, tyre is 215/35 R18 Goodyear Eagle F1.

Good luck with the project. I believe McGrath Maserati have a 430 that’s almost entirely rust, which might be able to give up its engine

Either a 5-spoke or 7-spoke design will suit the car well. The later 424/430 wheels would be nice and elegant but these are 16" I think. A chunky 5-spoke like OZ Futura (or the copy Keskin KT1) would be the more agressive choice. Personally I don't think these cars suit multi spoke wheels and needs to have a classic spoke design wheel.

This guy has nailed it I think. Close resemblence to the original Maserati 7-spoke but in 17" : Maserati 424 | | SuperCars.net

Hi Gemini. Yes I agree with you. These are amazing for the Biturbos. I am looking fof these for my Biturbo Spyder. Do you happen to know which size the ones in your picture are?

I just got the set I really wanted… They never really suited the Ghibli II in my opinion. But for a slightly less sporty 228, I hope they will be great and «spice up» the looks a bit with the polished rim edge and centers and a great Maserati trident in the center…

Love those. Had them on my first Ghibli II, but they should also look great on an earlier biturbo. Good find!

They are hard to find in good condition because the tend to corrode if not taken good care of. These are good as new!
