I’m in need of some inspiration... me and Mrs W are looking to treat ourselves to a 3-4 days / long weekend break away as a Christmas treat to ourselves.

What is the best hotel you’ve been to in either UK / Ireland?

thanks in advance...

Mrs MLC and I stayed here in Eyam.

Basically a self catering 1 bed cottage. Eyam is famous for its residents not fleeing when the bubonic plague reached thereby preventing the spread. Its a good base for the Derbyshire Peak District or just getting away from the world. Plus the local bread is a winner!

The Westbury and the Shelbourne in Dublin are both very good and there’s plenty to do for a few days in Dublin. A good friend is the manager in this excellent seafood restaurant as well just round the corner from the Shelbourne.

Cheers Dicky - Dublin is a strong contender as we got engaged in Dublin, so would be nice to go back... At the time we stayed in the Clarence, but it was a close call between that and the Westbury...

Agree on Rudding Park. Swinton House near Masham is also supposed to be very good (though I've not stayed there).
