1 Trabant drive around town.

2 BRLO brewery (shipping containers outdoor next to a metro station, where we stayed a few years ago). Decent IPA’s etc

3 Kebab places around checkpoint charlie

4 Walk around The Wall in the city with its memorial plaques etc.

5 Check who’s playing at the Mercedes benz arena! Great place…

6 Usual tourist stuff otherwise. Refer to 2 above and check out other breweries - that’s my idea of a holiday anywhere!

Fab. The Trabant tour sort of appeals, but......

Pork knuckle, washed down with local beer is a must whenever in Germany.

Then if you have a heavy session on the booze a kebab later on !!!!

We're booking the oldest restaurant in Berlin. If Rick Stein liked it, it's going to be good enough for us, and looks reasonably priced. And they do pork knuckle :)

I was in Berlin in '87. Rather looking forward to it :)

Defo agree with with pork knuckle, although in theory is bavarian, I believe.

Re @DLax69 suggestion, just bear in mind he's a septic and a day trip from miami to cancun is normal! . If needed anyway, I can give you great brewery recommendations in Milan, Prague, Munich etc when needed.

Drives my wife mad but that's part of the fun of a holiday, right?

I must say, we love our trips there.
I'm sure. I actually enjoyed my time there.

Much of my travel internationally now would be tied to people, not places...and I just don't have any connections to anyone there anymore.

My sister has lived in Berlin for nearly 30 years, I go there 5 or 6 times a year.

The best restaurant, which you must book, is https://www.katerschmaus.de/

Also, try an go to Burger Meister in Kruezberg at Skalitzer Strasse.

Head to Hackersmarkt, go down the lanes behind the main buildings and you'll find the cafe culture, with great places to eat fantastic cakes.

Then, walk a little down the road to Orienburger Strasse and visit the New Synagouge. It's incredible and tells both the poingant story of the sorry past of Berlin as well as the modern take on protecting the future. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Synagogue_(Berlin)

Be sure to look around the pavement for the brass plaques that tell the story of the past.

Lastly, the city is built just down river from some of the most amazing lakes you have ever seen. Head to Eichwalde from the airport, book a boat trip, and be amazed. Most people that visit don't realise that just a half hour out of the city are lakes that make Windermere look average.

I did Berlin last year, best bits were...

Car remise Berlin - A spectacular Storage/Sales/Garage of nice old metal..Imagine Dicky Grace/SportItalia/and our cars under one roof..all makes and models too

The old Communist TV tower

A smaller tower...

And obvious for me ...Tempelhof Airport.. do a tour and go behind the scenes...

Brilliant stuff here. I also recall that you can tell if you are in the old east or West Berlin by the traffic light pedestrian signals - they are different depending which side you are
