My 96 year dear old mum died peacefully a couple of months ago, I'm just about getting my life back to normal.
I just didn't realise there was so much stuff to do when someone pops there clogs..

No commiseration's please, as she was taking the mick to the very end.;)

Looking forward to some new forum banter!

I always wonder that.

I can remember when I was about 19 or 20 I was in the pub with a mate who was in the army, and we were the only ones in there plus an old boy with his pint of stout.
My mate went and bought him a beer.
When I asked him why he said "you can clearly see he was an old army boy, you can tell by the way he is dressed and how he holds himself".
Turns out my mate was spot on. This old fella was 92 served in the WW2, was a Sergeant Major (although you'd never guess by how frail he looked).
We then spent the next 3-4 hours listening to his old war stories, which were epic!

He was evacuated from Dunkirk, went to Norway, to Africa then into Italy.
I always remember when he reckoned those in the Normandy landings had it easy in comparison!

Fascinating afternoon. We could learn a lot by listening to our elder statesmen and women.

We could be here forever, as her mum, my nonna was Italian and came over from Corsica around the early 1900's

Not sure, but when I was there last in the late 80's there were lots of bombs going off...

Someone will put me right, but apparently the island was originally Italian until Napoleon blagged it for the French!

"originally"? That could be said for many Islands.
