Went for a drive to treat myself to an injection of speed and when l returned I noticed the radio was showing enter code. This was strange because it was working when I last looked but I have the code so I entered it but the radio will not accept it. I know its the correct code because I have used it before and have the code card. I have gone through the procedure in the 3200 manual ,waited 1 hour and then disconnected the battery and then switched it back on but it still will not accept the code. Any ideas?

Very strange one. Are there any key/immobilized lights lit on the binnacle at the same time?

No, but its strange I floored the accelerator in 2nd on one stretch and had a check engine light which reset on the key, don,t know what caused this but I have contact or less tb and Davey pp , but I will check voltages next week to make sure they are within range, all of this should not effect radio, might try removing it from the car to see if it will reset on the bench.

Bet It's voltage related from start up Rex.. How's your battery mate..

Dave

Battery is fine 2 years oldand needs a tricle charge every few weeks if left standing bu started the car on the day and the car was running when the radio lists its code. Have had it on charge though and will try entering code again with a fully charged battery later.

Could be barking up the wrong tree completely here, but there's a 15 pin multiplug behind the side panel of the centre console which feed the switches/radio/ ac control panels. From memory, the loom runs from there up and round to the right. I'm wondering if your full throttle action may have caught the loom and partially/temporarily disconnected the plug. The radio will have at least two live feeds, one permanent to retain memory and codes. If that's not connected it might cause your problem.

Trev thanks for the idea I have today taken the radio out and checked both supplies and the 10amp fuse on the radio and all are OK. It looks like the radio has developed a fault so will start looking for a Becker replacement, anyone have a spare?

Yep easy to replace with an aftermarket from Halfords. I put in a £20 MP3, bluetooth and USB one which is ten times better than the becker unit.

I know where your coming from Phil, but for me I'm not too keen on flashing disco display's on my head unit...

Original spec is important on these old cars..ok its not so good as the modern stuff..but hey It's also got a fantastic old school muti disc player in the boot ;)

Agreed & the Becker with the built in sat nav is an excellent bit of kit. I installed one in my AC together with the 6 disc multi changer - love a retro stereo!

I agree with Dave I have to find an original Becker unit or get mine repaired, the plastic covering on some of the buttons is braking up so will look for a suitable replacement on eBay?.

There's a guy on eBay... Shows his radios installed on an old Bmw...his name is robin I bought a becker cascade sat Nav Bluetooth etc.... If you contact him direct (via eBay to start with) his prices change I saved £150 from his eBay price.... He's a full range all with warranty all with instructions codes etc.

Cheers Ian

Yes I think it is as I use nav quite a bit....the Bluetooth is brilliant too I think becker are very good as this has a double tuner for the radio so reception is excellent

Anyone know how to get a code for a Becker unit? Changed the battery on the 3200 and don't have record of the Becker code! Dealers?

Without the code card, the only way that I'm aware of is one of the online radio code services. I guess you could try the supplying dealer to see if they kept a copy but I think there will be issues with data protection
