Hi everyone.
Picked up this lovely 4200 at the weekend. I had a 3200 for a couple of years that I sold in 2009 and been waiting for the chance to get another. Gave her a nice scenic drive home and not a single problem to report. I'd never driven a CambioCorsa gearbox before but once you think of it like a manual it's fine. This has got main dealer FSH (14 stamps) and every book, tool kit etc. looking unopened. It's got the trickle charger but presumably if I'm using it 2 or 3 times a week it won't need that (despite issues I've seen threads about). It won't be garaged but is off-road and sheltered and under a cover. I just don't fancy having an open boot and it plugged in all the time. I used the 3200 most days but never had a single problem even when I left it for 6 days buried under snow
Any other tips/things to look out for much appreciated.

Welcome back! Sounds like a nicely looked after example.
Not sure you need to leave the boot open for the trickle charger. I don't know anyone who does.
Are you worried about the boot seal? The Ctek leads are flat-ish.

Welcome back!

If you are using the car twice a week you are probably right about not needing a charger / conditioner for the battery except for longer periods of inactivity. I can leave mine for weeks without the charger with no problems.

Looks very nice indeed.
I have had two 4200 F1 box and taken them over 100,000 miles.
The second one I took to New Zealand and ran it there for 4 years.
A Great GT car indeed.
Keep the posts coming.

Welcome back!...........she looks like a lovely example!! I have mine on a Ctek over the winter, I close the boot down without shutting it as I was a bit worried about breaking the cable, but mine is in a locked garage under a cover.

Welcome, you're not going to need a trickle charger if you use it every couple of days and do 30 mins of more driving.

If you do, you need a new battery

Thanks for the reply. It wasn't the Ctek leads I was worried about. As it's outside I'd want the whole charger and the last bit of the external sealed extension lead in the boot. Looking at other replies though I hopefully won't need to use it much

Thanks. I may have to do similar for very cold periods but hopefully I'll be driving it enough to be OK

Worth checking if it had a tracker fitted when new? If it did and it's still there then unless you have it activated get it removed as it can be a significant drain on the battery. Nice car!

Thanks Robin. There is a tracker. I was working on the assumption it was already disabled so it was ok but if it needs to be actually removed to spare the battery then i may need to look into that.

I've used a Ctech trickle charger for 3 years on my 2009 QP and with the boot lid closed. The cable is pretty flat but if you protect the cable by sandwiching it between some plastic from an old ice cream tub, it protects the cable and the rubber seal without any distortion. Works brilliantly.
I would also recommend that you keep your battery on trickle charge whenever the car is not in use. I've been informed that this is the best way of extending the life of your battery. If you constantly let the battery drain it will fail prematurely and the cost of a new one is around £285.

For battery? No way, think mine was about £104 and it's a stop/start one since I figured it would have extra ooomph. It's Bosch, or a Yasusa - can't remember and CBA checking....

It will be £285 if it's from the Dealership ;)
