Problem with a battery reset is I’m worried that after a few hours the car will revert to the same mode due to my ongoing lack of sporty driving style in the GT, and that’s after PPF

For a reasonable consideration, I can fix that for you ;)

Your cards are marked! That car will always know when you're driving... 'here he is, turn everything down to 3...'

It hasn't been mentioned for quite a while now, but there used to be a lot of grumbling about the "take off" from stationary being hesitant with the ZF, and especially causing concern at roundabouts if you wanted to slot confidently into the traffic stream.

The answer was the FD DBW, which although doesn't mess with the ZF gearbox ecu, gives a more positive start and faster gear changes by tricking the ecus into thinking that the engine revs are higher than they actually and adjusting the gear changing accordingly. Of couse I may have completely misunderstood the whole thing and it could be snake oil!

I have had the DBW for the ZF for more than 6 years now so can't remember what it's like to drive without it.

Ah. Thanks for this, Eb.
Is it the case then that, with the FD DBW fitted, your QP with ZF gearbox (like mine) does not present "clutch slip" below about 40 mph (like mine does) which I described in my post yesterday at 8:13 PM?
Either way, its sounding like next time we met, it would be good to drive, or be passenger in, each other's car !

Excuse to post a pic :). Just got the GT back from having PPF fitted to whole front end side skirts etc. Looks like an awesome job and you really have to look carefully to spot it. Guy also extended the pattern (XPEL ultimate film) to cover the inner arches where these cars suffer road rash (and eventually rust as I saw on a 2018 car!). Will see how the film holds up but next job is a trip to 88119sportsitalia for the subframe protection later this year (pre winter) when funds allow!

Details please. Might look to get this done once paint is sorted.

Used Procare near horsham in West Sussex. One man band with a wonderful attention to detail and the most impressive “studio” you’ve seen for a detailer/PPF. Guy is very young but trustworthy (working on SLS, C Class black series, GT4 Lusso and Boxster at the moment!). Recommended (no affiliation).

Such a wife thing to say pal!

Like when you do the gardening and she comes home, strolls in the door and didn’t even notice the jungle has gone

Do a battery reset and then take it for a good drive to adapt to your own driving style.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I never got around to doing a battery reset uniting now (2.5 years later) due to a replacement battery. Boy do I feel like a right numpty. Post battery replacement gearbox has sharpened up and smoothed out! Much less “slip” on abrupt throttle application and gear changes seem slicker. Wish I’d taken Phil’s advice in 2021 but thanks anyway (embarrassed emoji….)

Think a battery reset may be a good annual thing to do!
