Ok so it’s very unlikely that Mrs Scaf and I won’t be travelling outside the uk for a break this year so we are looking at options for the the UK in September.

Any recommendations to places you have been that were truly awesome, either because of location / service / pure luxury or all three would be most welcome.
We would need options to eat well, either at the hotel or close by.

We went to Great Fosters at Christmas. Lovely place, lovely food in the Bistro.

Flodigarry on Skye is good and the location is amazing. But been a few years since I’ve been.

I know you said not abroad but the Post 1898 in Ghent is probably my favourite hotel, place, food rolled into one and depending where you are closer than Skye.

We like to get a few days a year away form the Juniors, these were last years and pretty decent

This is a nice one in Stratford upon Avon, we had the rooftop suite for 3 nights last summer.. very nice indeed, food is decent, wife loved the SPA and i just loved doing absolutely nothing for 4 days... - https://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/o...ford-upon-avon/macdonald-alveston-manor-hotel
Actually was not the MacDonalds.. was the Menzies.. - https://www.bestwestern.co.uk/hotels/the-welcombe-hotel-bw-premier-collection-by-best-western-84318

This one in Edinburgh also decent, excellent whisky bar - https://edinburgh.intercontinental.com/ - Rooms are nice, we have stayed in a King deluxe room and it did the job, food is great and it is well located.

Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall. Owned by Olga Politzi, sister of Rocco Forte and mother of Alex, the “Hotel Inspector” from TV.

This is simply the most quintessential classy English seaside hotel experience Relaxed but staff are so attentive and food is out of this world, especially fish. Rick Stein dines here regularly.

Rooms are very cool and stylish and all the linen is “Fret” with incredible thread count like silk.

We got married there in 2001 and go back regularly. We are renewing our vows there on our 20th Annivesary next year.

Love that place, we often go for a drink there when down in Falmouth. Take the boat across and sit overlooking the castle and the harbour, heaven on a summers day.

Whatley Manor near Malmesbury. Top food. The chef won the Great British Menu on TV earlier this year and I had it as a 7 course lunch last week. Fabulous.

Lots of scenic drive options around the Cotswolds while you’re there, plus maybe some laps of Castle Coombe.

You guys keep posting, Mrs. Oishi and I are planning our trip over there as soon as this Covid **** gets sorted, and your recommendations are very helpful. Does anyone know where one could rent a Mas. for vacation?
