Torridon - a wee bit up North

Was on TV last week as part of 'Best hotels' - but it's not actually super expensive

Looks lovely but that an 11 hours drive.
Having said that if I can convince my good lady that a road trip is in order then it’s on the list.

This is what got myself and Mrs C thinking about the NC500....

Looks rather lovely and yes, not that spendy. Although the MGM in Macau! How cheap!?

Scaff I’ve toured the Scottish highlands 9 times now. If you can, and your plans have forced a change on you. Then a tour of the highlands is amazing trust me.

Check out Cameron house Loch Lomond, although they did have a fire a year or so ago so look into that aspect first.

But you could take in Applecross, Glencoe etx

Would you mind distilling your experience into a "best of" as I'm contenplating something like this given that there's no where else we can go!

Let me get together some pics and I should still have some route maps etc and I’ll maybe bang a highlands guide thread up.

But trust me the highlands are spectacular. If you’re a car and scenery person it’s a must

Stayed in their boathouse a few years ago at the same time as the Ghibli launch by Bowker Ribble Valley.

Rudding park near Harrogate North Yorkshire is an excellent place to stay. It was used as a main hub for the Tour de France when it started in Yorkshire.

We’ve just come away as a family for a few days to Cliveden... I’m surprised no one has mentioned either here or its sister hotel Chewton Glen...

Would agree Cameron house Loch Lomond is a nice place to stay although not been since the fire.
Really enjoyed the The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath - https://www.royalcrescent.co.uk/
Have stayed at Amberley Castle quite a few times too and that has never dissapointed - https://www.amberleycastle.co.uk/
Depending on how many of you Hever Castle can be fun, we have stayed in some of the rooms on a B&B basis and also booked out the Astor wing for bigger groups.

I'm sure there are a few more i have forgot!

Are you still married
Yes, some 17 years later. At the time Storrs Hall was privately owned by an antiquities dealer and there was still powerboat racing on Windermere (got it on video from my wedding day).
I was still in my 20's back then, with pics of my lovely 964 Carrera Coupé.
Great place, good times, but sadly very dear family lost since then, such is life.

Recommend the Le EnClume at Cartmel if you want an experience dinner.

We've got a wealth of Michelin star restaurants up in the Lake District, but sadly, some very good privately run businesses are being bought up and losing their character.
We're grateful that tourism supports many of these businesses, but it's a double edge sword... it can also bring the idiots who spoil the natural environment with their litter, arrogance, and stupid chavvy behaviour which I despise.
