The car company that just won’t die!

They went bust in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 70s, 80s (three times), 90s, did they go bust under Ford or were they just sold on?

Well that’s a shame but it’s been on the cards. Hopefully things will turn around.
Aston has re-emerged over the years with some beautiful, exquisite cars oozing pedigree and heritage. For distinguished gentlemen of taste.
It Just shows you what directionless Maserati is up against- if Aston
is struggling.

Racing point F1 team will be Aston Martin from 2021. They were always up for F1 with red bull but this will be a direction change. It may prove a boost to their narrow range.

Sold on from Ford quite some time ago. They became an IPO early 2019 and their share price has steadily declined

The new 4x4 thing had a lot of hope of big sales riding behind it but global economy is a bit shaky so I guess Lance Strolls influence is very welcome

The only concern is that they had their name with a team that have won races and potentially will this year to a team that well...doesn't...But who knows in 2021 as that when the big changes come in F1 so wouldn't like to say who will be winning then.

What about the supercar that’s probably stolen all the capital, it’s tied in with Red Bull, that’s going to look a bit silly now.

Their current woes stem from the cost of building the new DBX factory in Wales, and the relative failure (in sales terms) of the Vantage, especially in the UK and Europe.

The old Vantage was good looking and well priced. The new Vantage is neither of those. But surely not too hard to correct. A front end facelift to enlarge the narrow headlights would be good a start...

Well I would imagine that car needs to come out this year and from what I hear it is......A bit like the link with Mercedes and McLaren and then the split.

I saw a prototype dbx in Coventry a few weeks ago. It's hideous! I prefer the YourAr5e to the dbx.

A Kuwaiti prince used to own AM when I went around the factory c. 7 years ago. An awesome place! In the admin offices they used to have an actual examples of every AM car model ever built since the 1960's. What a sight to see and what a great environment in which to work. Loved the place..... an iconic brand which deserves to survive and hopefully prosper.

The first Valkyrie cars will be delivered this year. All presold and a huge waiting list. I was at an Aston Heritage thing on Tuesday and Christian Horner was there. He was very funny about it. Adrian Newey came to see him to hand in his notice because Ferrari had offered him just about everything and anything he wanted. The deal clincher was Ferrari offe4ing him the chance to design a road car, which has always been an ambition. To keep him, Horner put together the deal with Aston to design the Valkyrie and it’s matching the performance of last years F1 cars, apparently. It hasn’t been a drain of AML finances because it’s been funded through sales and the research budget of Red Bull Racing.

New Vantage roadster finally revealed as well. Seems to work but I know lots don't like the face.

AM have far too many 'projects' however the hypercar series will bring the company into the black!
It's these projects and the super rich willing to buy them that are supplying McLaren Automotive a lot of cash, Senna, P1, Speedtail etc. All pre-sold and all desirable in their own way.

The bonnet vents improve it, but there are cutouts under the bonnet which suggest plans for a more heavily vented engine bay in the future. I'd take an interest in one, but not until they've sorted out the extremely dated Merc infotainment shite and the incessant, loud, terrified parking / proximity warning beeps every time a cyclist rides past two lines away when you're at traffic lights. Overall, I much prefer my V12 Vantage S to this new model. Bizarrely, Mrs Crud, who really couldn't give a stuff about cars, prefers the looks and the sounds of mine to the new one.

Mind you, the new one sounds pretty good, goes like stink and handles brilliantly. A roadster would be wonderful, but for me needs the info tech and the aesthetics sorting first.
