Its hard to see how it isnt the best "bang4buck" on the market, bar none somehow..!
I think getting away with your arm intact will be the thing !?

Hi Tim, I don't think I can name a car that offers the same as the Gransport for this kind of money. Have been lucky enough to try out quite a few of the contenders over the years, but the GS definitely has something really special about it. I amazed they are at the price they are sitting at in fact. I'm sure they will have their day soon........most probably starting a week after I sell up:)

Are you a Russian Catman? :)

And here I am having just shoehorned a 6.0 V12 into my garage, next to my 4.2 V8.
Warren Buffett of the car trade I am not! but still smiling at present :)

Possibly a Russian Blue Catman ;)

I doubt you need to drive to Leeds from Essex in either of yours ;)

I have an old banger of a daily Saab 9-3 estate for daily duties. I really wouldn't (couldnt) fancy running either of my others on big regular journeys!

A black Bentley Supersports caught my eye when I was thinking about what to get next. Pretty stunning machine! Bet they are very special cars to own.

Well @MAF260 is the Supersports expert. Mine was a lowly GT Speed.

In honesty, I wasn't enjoying it. More life <> car conflict than anything else. When I wanted to use it, it wasn't suitable. When I had to, I didn't want to because it wasn't suitable. However oin the rare occasions where I could let rip it was an awesome thing. And of course, every time you opened the door and pressed that button......

I have an aversion to going back to being a 3 car household. It would be bad enough with 3 cats....

Stunning GS, a bargain based on the amount of work that's received, and spec - I would said high £20s for that car.

My heart is saying keep her with all of the positive comments. Thanks all!

I did a rough calculation last night on what I have spent on her over the past 2 years. All in it comes to approx. £15k.
Only ever let me down when the clutch failed. The rest has been spent on routine servicing and lots of attention to detail to get it as good as I possibly can. I really didn't need to do all of this, but it has all resulted in a very clean and tidy Gransport.

I have been here before with my previous cars. Think I'm a bit unusual in the fact that I get at least half of my enjoyment out of pampering, polishing and getting them absolutely spot on! Tends to work out very well for the next owner! but I never feel short changed as I get a huge amount of reward and pleasure out of it too!

GLWtS,

I too often spend a fortune getting a car 100% or as close as possible only to sell and never realise the return.

I am surprised that, despite the climb in value for almost anything with wheels, the 4200/GS has remained largely static in value.

I'm currently doing exactly the same thing to mine, working my through every bit of the car to get it perfect - and then no doubt will sell on for someone else to enjoy! It's an addiction.....

Nice to know that I'm not alone on this!

I bought my 4200 6 years ago and got this back to a fantastic condition (it was in a good condition when I bought it) and started thinking, I want to preserve this a bit more so it stopped being my daily and I bought the Barchetta to use. This has extremely low miles and was in pretty good condition. I then had all the little imperfections addressed and now this is also now in practically time-warp condition. Now wanting to also preserve this, I then bought the Abarth to replace it as the daily. This is now 85% finished!!............I think I have a problem...GLWS btw. She looks superb!

Completely off topic, but I read you also have a Barchetta.
Question:
Somewhere on the net I read that the air vents in the dash, are the same (diameter) as the Gransport vents.
Are you willing to check if that is true?
If so, we could maybe have a solution for the (often flaked) chrome rings on them!

I have a great solution for flakey rings!
I never thought this would work, but with a steady hand the results are perfect and no taking apart required.

Get yourself a set of Molotow liquid chrome pens. They are great and produce a very convincing chrome finish.

Yep!............They are the same diameter. I have also seen this on the internet (FB Maserati Forum I think) that someone had replaced their vents with the Barchetta ones with no fuss. I have not tried it though as one of the first jobs I did with my 42 was replace these with new OEM's.
I would like to see a few pics of your Barchetta!
