If you listen to the argument of Gary Lineaker yesterday about it, they were talking that Football would only take around a few thousand vaccines to be taken. The resultant cost saving in testing an other measures would pay back dividends which they can contribute to the NHS .

Bristol City's Ground is a Vaccines centre.

The view that footballers should get a vaccine before anyone else because they are footballers is abhorrent.
The view that because they have more money and therefore get the vaccine quicker than the poor is also abhorrent.

I'm certainly no left winger, but come on, if you start giving the rich priority you've just started the end of the world.
There would be riots!

Posted last year, at the start of all this, that it was absolutely appalling that footballers (Southampton was the club in question at the time...or maybe Portsmouth) were getting Covid tests prior to NHS staff... that was when a test was almost impossible to get publicly.

Same situation now I guess... you could employ a few hundred Dr and Nurses for the same as a footballs club top players... show what we value in our society! Still we give them a clap now and then if its convenient and not to rainy outside, NHS staff that is.

Well Jeanette got her marching orders today! She was allocated the Nightingale at Excel London about 09.30 this morning, Mid afternoon she got a phone interview from someone co-ordinating the seconded staff; the bits I picked up were along these lines...

"So you are a qualified nurse?"

"Yes I'm a heath visitor, Msc, Ma, Bsc, Dip (Pro'NS), RGN, EGN." (last three are nursing Diploma in Professional Nursing Studies, Registered General Nurse and State Enrolled Nurse)

"Oh fantastic and how many years experience of nursing do you have?"

"Over 20 years."

"That is really great; when did you last work on a ward?"

"Ah...!"

Now it appears that someone on high has deemed it necessary for the full training module/induction to have been completed in the last three years, so for her to be let loose on a ward there is about three months cramming required, that will be interesting to see how they get around that one! I suspect an admin roll will be found that ticks the boxes.

If our safety tickets run out without having done the refresher, even by 1 day, we have to do the whole course again.

I'm not arguing one way or another.

Its just the way that the argument is presented for ALL elite sport not just Premier league football players.

From what i’ve Heard I think you’re more likely a centre half.

Makes no difference to me. ‘Elite sport’ is just another name for the wealthy.

I'm not sure you're right. My youngest is an elite sportsman, defined by the league in which he plays sport. I'm pretty sure if he was wealthy I'd not keep having to give him money for the rent on his student house.
