Not really. You're asking questions, which I think should be answered. A (proper) conspiracy theorist would have said that the supply issues must have been there to hike up prices and involve brown envelopes. Without any proper evidence.

This is not nice at all. The good old British visit to the pub could become a thing of the past.

Indeed, although this seems to be counterintuitive:
'Under Tier 1 restrictions, only 25% of operators said they could turn a profit. Under Tier 2, 76% said they would be unviable or operating at a loss'

I guess that this is because of government assistance on Tier 2?

I hate the fact that some have made millions out of PPE just as a middle man.

However I will never forget when this started having to ration PPE to front line staff, and by ration I mean not enough to see them through their shift with no hope of new stock later that week let alone that day!

At times I was travelling 100 miles on my days off to collect a single box of gloves (100) for 1750 staff, desperately trying to find what I could.

So we can knock the process and the people behind it, but if you were staving you would pay all you have to feed your family... Whattie may even sell some Gold!

Again I think media are either manipulating the facts or just omitting bits that detract from a good story. The size (value) of contracts grabs attention, but if put in context of the numbers involved in actual product may not be so newsworthy.
I set of overalls at £200MM is expensive but 200MM is not. Without those facts the headline is valueless.
I agree that 10% to a middleman may seem excessive if he was a one man operation, but on the other hand if he is the representative of a large Supply Chain and Logistics organisation maybe not so much.
I do have issues with the Government's apparently 'robust' selection process and management of purchase contracts. That smells of 1st degree cronyism...

It's far more valuable for survival to recall when you were attacked by a lion than all the days you wandered through the same bit of veldt and were not.

very true that, i always remember getting verbally abused by the mrs when wondering through the kitchen with my shoes but cant remember a thing other times ;)

Woke up with a temp of 39.1 this morning, logged on to test and trace at 8.30, test booked for 11.00, all done and home now, I was first in the queue, fingers crossed now.

That's a little warm. Fingers crossed you've just got a cold.

We have a temperature check as you come into the office. I've been 36 degrees for the last week. Wish it was 36 degrees outside!

Which is kinda worrying as normal body temperature is 37 degrees.

Check your pulse. It's possible that you're dead and are just cooling down slowly.

No not nice....seen as thought it's the industry I supply........The only saving grace is that when this is all over people will still want alcohol i ......How our business will look though is another thing. Furlough is helping and being part of DHL also helps.

I think the British Traditional Pub is finished. Pubs were for me traditionally the place to sit and talk and drink in a place that wasn't a shiiithole - most peoples homes then being a bit like that 60/70/80's even 90's.

Now most people have cool cribs, wine, whiskey and beer is cheap in ASDA, we've all got massive tellies, Sky, football etc nullify the pub convo, easier to stay at home.

Worth a watch

Mandatory vaccines to travel -

I won’t be queuing up first to get one. What’s the view with others?
I still fail to understand how those vaccinated are at risk from those who choose not to be.

I presume that the risk is that, like with the actual disease, the antibodies will wane with time, so those that don’t take the vaccine would perpetuate the disease until their protection has worn off.

I am not in a group that will get the vaccine right away, but will take it when it is available to me, to protect myself and those I care about.
