It’s nowt to do with money. People just don’t follow the rules.

There’s a marked difference between my industry and places my friends work. Because we are so safety focused and almost indoctrinated to follow rules everyone is very compliant, you go elsewhere and it’s a completely different story.

Most people want to work , they also want to keep their job , anyone who takes the **** with time off sick in this current situation is an idiot.

If people had jobs like mine, self employed, no contract , no work ,no pay, if you're unavailable somebody else gets the work they wouldn't be going off sick unless they were actually ill !

I'm not a sickly person , self employed my whole life , I can count the days I've been off work on both hands.

Someone I know works for a company where they allow so many sickness days , SOME people take all of them and not a day more annually with no repercussions which really pisses him off.

My missus works for NHS. Medical secretary. She has been told to turn track and trace off at work. Has to wear a face mask at all times. Only one person at a time is allowed to eat or drink. Has been told she has to go in, even though she can do 75% of the work from home. Only needs 1 person in to do the other 25%. The good bit is, none of the healthcare professionals will come in.
The rules are been made up by a senior manager working from home....

Heard on the radio this morning that a Scottish minister has told the people of Scotland to prepare for a 'digital Christmas' where they won't be able to have a house full of people like normal and that they will only be seeing them via mobile/skype or Zoom chats.

I guess that will be the same for most of us the way things are going?

I'm suprised therefore you don't have half your department claiming they had close contact for 2 weeks off full pay!!
You can't win on this one.
Pay full pay and you have everyone off, pay nothing (SSP) and hardly anyone off.

We pay full pay at my discretion. I have the right not to if I feel someone is taking the pee. Normal sick rules on site out of Covid is no company sick pay for the first 5 days. Covid we are looking at differently. In general there are few people out of the 250 on site that take the rise to be honest as most are just grateful to have a job as I am also.

Give and take as always, there are some that will take the p155 but most people will be fair if treated fairly

He'll need a visa next year and there'll be tariffs and duty on the presents and sleigh plus a special licence for reindeer.

No he won’t ‘cause we’ll have our own British Santa. He’ll be called Uncle Brian, based in Slough with manufacturing in the Midlands and North East.

Expect your Christmas presents sometime around Easter, unless you’re in the Higlands or Islands in which case there’s an extra charge or delay until May.

To the OP; the only thing I’m worried about is the sanity of the t0ssers making up the rules. It’s about time they just said “f*ck it, crack on and look after yourselves in the way you prefer”.

All I can say is if this is where we all end up at, wherever we live in the UK, then I think there will be significant repercussions for UKG and for the so called devolved govts eg. civil unrest, mass demonstrations etc.. etc..Its not going to be pretty. Roll on Spring 2021!
