Population of Sweden around 11m population of UK around 66m and much more densely populated rather than spreadout like Sweden.
Yes, Sweden doesn’t have any densely populated areas. Like the million plus that live in a city called Stockholm. Or the slightly smaller Gothenburg. In fact most of the population live below a line just north of Stockholm to the south coast I.e in the lower half of the country. North of that line, don’t walk into the woods and get lost cause they wont find your body.
Swedes do work from home easily, and I think adhere more to social distancing without it being enforced because it’s sensible and logical. Although here as everywhere, teenagers to 30 somethings think they are immune. Good job it’s expensive to buy beer in the pub....

I don't understand some people, here we could eat in restaurants but we decided not too - why take the risk we are more than happy to be out and about in the fresh air, walking, cycling and even eating. I choose not to go into the office unless essential and then I use my own transport, social distance where possible and face mask where not. It's not hard and I don't need a government rules to tell me what my own common sense does.

There have been a few positive tests in the workspace but nearly all of them have been with people from Dublin who have been out socialising with their mates.

Does anyone wish to speculate as to why China has recorded only 2 deaths in the past 150 days?
150 days ago there were only 3 people left in the country, now there's just the one who reports the figures and he's waiting for permission to leave.

My sister was told one of her colleagues has tested positive (she's a nursery manager). Tests ordered Sunday pm, results back already for her entire family (All negative)

Exactly the same here apart from 2 transgressions to my local beer garden, mid week when it was empty...
I get the feeling that people have accepted that if they leave every single decision of their lives to someone else, then, they can blame them, therefore exonerating them of responsibility for their own actions...just because the pub is open til 10, doesn’t mean you hVe to be in bye 2, but you know people will, why did I get cv 19, I left the pub at 9:59, like I was told, it’s the governments fault....they said it was safe until 10.......

Edit......I may apply to the BBC......

Closing the pubs etc at 10.
What about the prior 15, 30 minutes, 1, 2 hours before?
Token effort.
yep I agree, waste of time.
They would be better reminding people the rules of social distancing that still apply everywhere including pubs, restaurants etc
1m + !, so 6 people from various households around a standard pub bench / table is not acceptable.
You see this all the time even on the news etc, rule of 6 is x6 people but the rule of social distancing still apply.

After weeks of relative calm, James Cook University Hospital has admitted 25 people with Covid and a further 6 are in ICU. The Drs there are fearful and hoping this is not the beginning of something worse

Out of all your many, many, many anti - government memes on this thread, this is probably the first one that I agree with.
Not because I think he deserves to go, but because its very likely.
Its a shame really, as I think if it wasn't for Covid-19, he'd have done a pretty good job, and as a country we'd have been better off in not too many years.

However, what I am sure of, is that no other political parties or leaders, would have done any better in this same situation. They may not have made the same decisions and mistakes, but they would have made just as many!

Anyway, this is not a political thread.... So carry on as you were :drinks:

Absolute poison chalice. I think anyone in power at in January would stand precisely zero chance of getting re-elected. Either as an individual, or a party. IMHO Labour can pretty much sit back and take their pick of what focus on for the electorate when the next election comes along.
