YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT UP (Version 500+)

Chaotic UK government has instituted a mandatory 14 days isolation for those returning from Spain.

Dominic Rabb on “Sophy Ridge” programme said it was up to employers to treat their staff fairly if they couldn’t return to work and it was illegal for them to penalise they as a result of government regulation. He offered no form of payment to those affected such as “statutory sick pay”. There will be lots of small employer who simply cannot afford to pay staff wages. Another example of policy on the hoof.

When asked how this quarantine was to be policed he said it was the law and there were penalties for none compliance. He was relying on people to “do the right thing”.

There will be no testing for coronavirus at airports of those returning and therefore no Track or Tracing.

It seems to me that this isolation requirement is almost totally pointless if there is no enforcement or funding for those involved.

Just another example of the half-assed knee-jerk policies enacted by this bunch of clowns. (My apologies to professional clowns.)

Damned either way.
Its quite sImple, fly from Scotland as they will be 2 weeks behind and then get lauded for making all the right decisions.
its really starting to boil my pi55 why loads of people think they should be funded. I read a bbc report where a self employed Dr couldn’t afford to self isolate for 2 weeks so came back after a day in Malaga. Really. The self employed Dr’s where the wife works are on £80 an hour!!

If I could earn £80 an hour I would never take a holiday

Indeed. Whatever is done someone will stand up and throw rocks.

Really don't get the funded thing either. In fact I really don't get the (perceptually) widespread abdication of personal responsibility coupled with the belief that I've mentioned before that somehow people who have never had to decide on anything more pressing than a mortgage application think they are in any way qualified to judge some of the decisions being made. Without access to all the information on which that decision was based.

But hey. That's people

I’ve been buying a lot of American stuff recently a lot of which says “fabrique en E.U.” Took me a while to realise it wasn’t made in Europe.

Seems very reasonable of the Americans to put the country of origin in the language of the potential buyers.

I don’t have too much sympathy. Anyone booking holidays abroad right now are taking a risk. Everyone predicts the strong possibility of a second wave so it’s not surprising. It’s like folks that were trapped abroad when it all started. You’d have to be pretty dumb not to have seen what was coming.

16million cases around the world now.
You’d have to be pretty dumb to think that anything any government does anywhere now is gonna get rid of this situation.

They are pissing in the wind as it is now uncontrollable without the most draconian of methods.

Not too much sympathy! I have none.
Go to somewhere like Spain on an aeroplane is recipe for a problem. And no, I wouldn't give them sick pay. They knew the risks of international travel and what might happen. People seeking an international holiday will think again now that's for sure.
Be good for British tourism.

As your doctor, I prescribe a course of antibiotics to deal with the boiling pish.

That'll be eighty quid, please.
