Well I don't really warm to Dom and his actions were poorly judged politically and maybe even morally but I do sympathise with the aspect of him looking after his son.
I would probably have done the same.
The media have a bigger share of blame to shoulder imho for the relentless hounding and downright lies they have published in order to bring someone they don't like down.
So I say let it end now

You cannot be serious, how can you sympathise with that hypocrate?

Cummings is digging himself a massive hole with his massive spade.

He's floundering.

He's finished....

I had a moment of sympathy for him at one point, but having eye disturbances and driving 30 miles to Barnard Castle to check - that's 13 yo schoolboy I lost my homework on the bus territory.....

Can I give a double like to that?

It is the media who are hypocrites.
They preach holier than thou to the masses and relentlessly hunt down anyone they deem fits their bill.
I repeat I am not an admirer particularly of Dom but he has indeed been hunted down.
I think you and I must agree to differ and the is fine by me

It made me laugh when the photographers were stood shoulder to shoulder surrounding Cummings, and questioning him about his journey....

I'm sorry officer but I've had a few beers and I'd thought it best to go for a short drive with the wife and kids to see if I don't hit anyone.

Not buying that. He made the effing rules, he broke them, GET OUT, RESIGN. Can I make my thoughts any clearer.
Oh, And he went on a day trip (30 odd miles) to that castle.........to test his eyes for the ongoing trip back to London......................with his wife and four year old in the car while he tested how bad his eyes were. Oh, effing please, give me strength. What a crock of sh1t. You are seriously buying that right?

Your thoughts are quite clear and I do respect them
I repeat I am not an admirer and he did himself no favours.
Yes he should have known better
No police prosecution
I would have protected my children in a similar way in similar circs

I welcome free speech and journalism but there comes a point that we seem to be at that it is getting ridiculous.

Irresponsible and poorly researched journalism has a lot to answer for.

Should be tougher regulations or heavy fines....it isn't entertainment it is supposed to be journalism. Lazy journalists with no regulation or reprimands seems to allow them to say or do anything all under the banner of free speech.

Social media is the same.....no better or no worse really. I don't really read much news as most of it seems tosh and barely believable. So what is the point?

I trust most journalists now about as much as I trust most politicians.

Didn't some journalists or politicians once go into their fields to make a difference and do something great? Seems many don't really give too boots about that now.
100% agree. IMHO, publishing any fake news should be made a criminal offence. Many talk about journalists holding the UKG to account, but frankly who holds our journalists to account? I hope there is a proper and thorough investigation into the the british press because there needs to be one. It's got out of hand...

I think he's plainly using his child and the 'I thought I might have COVID' aspects as an excuse for visiting his parents and nailing a deal at GSK at Barnard Castle....

It has indeed. What right have they got to question anybody about anything when they act as they do. They need to change their titles from journalists and journalism to something more befitting the tripe they currently spout.

The Press Complaints Commission; if you feel so strongly, make a complaint although I do not see there are any inaccuracies in what was reported. It is regrettable if the witness who claimed to see Mr Cummings on 19 April 2020 is wrong but that is still accurate reporting of the allegations.

There are questions here of judgment by both Mr Cummings and the PM, both in what happened amd in its subsequent handling.

I accept that Mr Cummings is probably being truthful in his account of events but it remains a series of poor judgments in my view. And that is relevant given his role in setting policy.

Meanwhile, the testing figures continue to be manipulated, the tracking app appears not to be on time and I fear the avalanche of taxation in the future from all these bailiuts, whether corporate or individual.

I have never trusted a government less in my lifetime.

At the moment I have been and hope to continue to for the rest of the year to work from home or outside core office hours.

I will continue to social distance, avoid large gatherings if they are allowed and wear face coverings.

I will see how things develop, hoping to avoid becoming a victim of any second wave.

I will not be installing any tracking app and resisting vaccination for the foreseeable future until there is clear evidence of safety and efficacy. By that, I mean that large sections of the population have been vaccinated.

In truth, I regard it as highly unlikely a vaccination will be found because it is a coronavirus.

And I am a former medicinal chemist that worked for a large multinational pharma firm.
