I didn't say the unpleasantness was one side or the other. Create the chaos by getting people to make sanctimonious statements on both sides and let the polarising views that follow thrive. It feels to me as though the country is the most divisive it has been since the 1980s. An unforeseen consequence or a deliberate strategy?

Ironic if it was (and I don't believe for an instant that it was) that the 'other' side are generally shown in subsequent surveys to be less tolerant and more sanctimonious. <shrug>

so pop over to france for week's holiday, isolate in a French Hotel for 14 days, then have holiday, come home, arrive at Crawley/Middlesex International, take train/tube home, self isolate for another 14 days. Barking! Like Brexit, I fail to see the logic in this. can someone of the True Blue Tories explain this to me in non-latin please.

here's a revoluitonary idea. Let's test people. Arrive in France, take test, answer in 3 hours, clear to go, enjoy holiday, come home, take test, clear to go, carry on working and raise money via income/corporation tax to pay for this shambles..
If nobody’s going on holiday abroad, where are they going to go on holiday ;)

With appetite for coming to the UK likely to be at a low anyway (we still have Brexit to look forward to), keeping as many of us on the island, spending money, paying VAT...

Mind you I’m perhaps giving our ‘betters’ a little too much credit.

We’re not going on holiday this year. So I’m actually thinking of taking 25 Monday’s off in a row. Therefore, bank holiday every weekend for 25 weeks and a 3.5 day working week. Seems to make sense.

I heard a rumour about people and palms, I think it was something to do with nuts - or was it oil?

I take it you buy your tea only from trusted sources?

The Isle of Man is not quarantined so we could go there. Just put your watch back 30 years

Cummings is digging himself a massive hole with his massive spade.

He's floundering.

He's finished....

I had a moment of sympathy for him at one point, but having eye disturbances and driving 30 miles to Barnard Castle to check - that's 13 yo schoolboy I lost my homework on the bus territory.....

He should have just apologised and said he made an error of judgment. The broadcast is going to finish him.

You reap what you so.

Having worked with politicians for c20 years now they and those who move in their circles deserve all they get esp when they are caught lying.

As others have said, I would have far more regard for them/him if he just admitted the error and said sorry... honesty is what is missing from politics today and it is not for the better.

Well I don't really warm to Dom and his actions were poorly judged politically and maybe even morally but I do sympathise with the aspect of him looking after his son.
I would probably have done the same.
The media have a bigger share of blame to shoulder imho for the relentless hounding and downright lies they have published in order to bring someone they don't like down.
So I say let it end now

I wonder how many people on this thread who are having a real go at Cummings have broken some aspects of the lockdown?

Sure the distances involved in his drive are high and he should not have done it but this culture of the print/online media going for the kill and then using social media warriors to fan the flames is just turning us into a land of righteous unpleasant individuals.

Not broken one aspect of the lockdown. Stayed in until government said we could drive out anywhere for exercise. Got the Ferrari out the very first day. Taxed it first!!
After 9 weeks, (we were both, what's the words. vunerable). Boy did we enjoy our first drive, Gone out every day since then, well apart from today when the bloody cat went missing.

The thing is everyone has an excuse and lots of people love piling in to kick anyone in the public eye. Most of my friends are doing this on FB and looking at everyone famous they don’t like through a very critical lense that they refuse to apply to themselves. They feel justified for some reason in every case for either their acceptable actions or those deemed unacceptable by public figures.

The world is becoming so critical and unpleasant and the main perpetrators don’t see what they are doing. These are the people on social media who are being primed by Rogue States for future elections as they will be fed a range of narrow focus media to peddle in the mistaken belief that they are being original and thought provoking.

And YOU believe one word out of cummings mouth. Oh please!
