I think she's 48, not bad really! Was in After Life - very under-used, she's another funny Boltonian, along with Sophie Willan, check iPlayer for 'Alma's Not Normal'.Philomena Cunk (aka Bolton's Finest: Diane Morgan) explains....
Since this thread started in early Feb, with me sitting in an outside bar in Myanmar a lot has happened and a lot of initial opinions on here have changed, including my own. But as of today the total deaths in Myanmar are reported as six. I know what everyone is going to say, lack of testing and suppressed reporting. To a certain extent I definitely agree, but I am still in contact a few times a week with associates in Myanmar and have followed things very closely. They shut down Yangon over night with military precision, street by street with barricades, wearing masks is the law, streets are still being sprayed nightly by the army, social distancing is being adhered to by law, lock down and the curfew is now slightly easing off. You can hide many things, but the hospitals and streets are not littered with bodies! Which they would be if they had the same same fatality rate as Uk, you can only hide so much. The same applies to neighbouring Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore etc. They have not been affected to the same extent as European countries. They, in their own little way have coped better than Europe and that is what I cant understand. None the less I won’t be going back to that little bar in Yangon for a few months yet. I was supposed to return in March but refused, then flights stopped so no choice. But from Feb until now would I have been safer wandering around Yangon or commuting in London, makes you think.Agree. Because of the wider spread population the curve flattened more in the 3 other countries whilst England hit a real pointed peak because of certain areas density of population.
Similarly I started off at around 7 out of 10 primarily because the lock down came 2-3 weeks too late when the warning signs were already out there. Since then, its been mixed for me because no Govt has ever experienced anything like this before, so it has been and was always going to be very much a learning experience for many, which would inevitably lead to some mistakes. I also think that there hasnt been anywhere near enough 'check and challenge' of the scientific community (by an independent body outside of SAGE) before acting. UKG has more or less had to take at face value what the scientific experts have been saying on every subject, without having the expertise to question their judgement. So I think the current UKG have been taking a beating for poor planning and historically poor procurement strategy, much of which has been handed down to them by successive govts over the last 25+ years. But a lot of what we are experiencing now is and has been down to poor advice from the Scientists. Finally, letting the devolved administrations to manage this crisis independently, has been a disaster. The crisis should have been led by the central UKG to avoid the ridiculous disparities and confusion that we now have between the 4 nations. It should never have happened. It would be interesting to get everybodys view on how they think the Government is handling various aspects of the virus.
Me, I always mark out of 10. They started as 9 out of 10 for me and they have just gone downhill pretty much with every press conference. My number currently stands at ONE out of ten.
The first point they lost was that early time when the country was worried about food shortages. Matt Hancock said he had "spoken to all the major supermarkets". The next morning all the supermarkets said they hadn't heard from him. It was a lie.
How many more lies since then (that we know of!). And lastly, why is some much of SAGE reports classified?
I would welcome other peoples thoughts on how we are doing.
For full disclosure I vote Tory.
Is it just me or is it everyone else that wants the side effects to kick in?

The one thing that's been hammered home during the whole crisis is Trump is properly nuts , it's like working for Hitler but he stops just short of the firing squad , disagree with him and you'll never work again. Is it just me or is it everyone else that wants the side effects to kick in?
