Uk government now all crapping themselves... Health Sec now... If Raab goes down as well who takes over ? Chancellor must have it too.... At this rate Corbyn could get in by being the only one left.

Although Jeremy is over 70 and should be at home, he could trot along with Ms Abbott as Chancellor; I hear she is very good at balancing the books in times of crisis :)

this is an interesting read on Swedens approach.
Which is exactly what was posted yesterday, it's damage limitation. Think Ford Pinto scandal, they knew people would die in a fireball so factored in the payout costs for the dead and worked it out that it would be cheaper to let people die a horrific death in one of their cars than to recall them all and fix the design flaw. This is not much different really. The article posted yesterday said that the economic fallout from this would be far greater than the number of lives lost due to COVID-19. Is there a right or a wrong way? I don't know but I admire Sweden and always have enjoyed working out there and have many Swedish friends.

"far more lives and livelihoods will be destroyed as a result of shutting entire industries than lives lost to this flu strain. "

It’s a tough one, but I’m leaning currently to the Swedes way of thinking. That’ll change tomorrow when I read another article somewhere that’ll put the fear of God in me . One thing I do know it that the local coppers seem to be more enthusiastic about posting Go home caravans on Twitter than they ever have been about catching drugs dealers, burglars etc.

I forwarded that on to my sister and her husband both medics. They loved it, I imagine it’ll be all round Worcestershire NHS Trust pretty soon.

To be fair, now the airlines are not moving folk around the country in huge numbers, it could be hard to spread in the county when where I live, it’s the size of three or four uk counties but only has a population of 90,000. And the nearest town with more than 60,000 people is 140 miles away. It shlt getting the Maserati serviced however.

And apparently the hotel staff that are being laid off are being retrained to be care workers during this time.
