Some people will die from any virus , 2013 my wife had a bit of a cold while we were on holiday in cornwall , a week later she was paralysed in hospital with Guillain-Barré Syndrome

Guillain-Barré (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms. These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body.

Without medical intervention she would've died , she never recovered 100%, left side of her face is paralysed and she fatigues quickly, a few die even with medical intervention regardless of age

I did hear about something similar being reported with CV19 cases , the immune system attacks the virus but doesn't distinguish between the virus and healthy cells

Interesting reading. I've not validated any of those people, but overall the site's rating isn't the greatest....

I have to say it would be interesting to plot a 'normal' 'flu epidemic in as much detail. If anyone knows of such a source?

There have been calls for self-employed people (like me) to 'be paid what they normally get paid' (including the usual silly and typo-filled petitions). This makes no sense on many levels.

Some self-employed people are still working more-or-less successfully from home.

There seems to me no reason why 'someone' should pay 100% of what self-employed people were previously making - surely some drop in income can be tolerated when times are hard.

And where is the money supposed to be coming from? The 'rich', as usual? It can only come from 'printing more', 'tax', 'borrowing' or 'other people'.

If the proposition is 'give self-employed people all the money now' PLUS 'tax them treble next year to pay for it' maybe we wouldn't be so keen on that.

The only fun part is that if there is to be a 'free money' handout which is based on previous tax returns; the cheats who have been taking half their money in undeclared cash will be feeling a bit sorry for themselves.
Should be easy enough to work out what the self employed have been earning by looking at their tax return ;)
Ok perhaps not so easy

Seeing reports now of young fit and healthy people dieing in the UK plus suicide too with people not coping.
Very Sad times indeed.

I know they quote Covid-19 deaths every day. But would be interesting to know what the 'collateral damage' death total was. In other words how many die due to not being able to get treatment they normally would.

Oh in answer to Wattie's original question. I think we are ALL worried now.
