Imagine my surprise.

Meanwhile, serial liar (probable war criminal) Blair says

COVID-19: Tony Blair says vaccine hesitancy is 'completely wrong and unjustified'
Tony Blair is calling on Boris Johnson to launch a major publicity blitz to boost COVID vaccine take-up rates and allay fears about side-effects.

“completely wrong and unjustified”.....bit like his fake war then.

I can never understand, why do the bans after wait until the next weekend..
I should be immediate, from midnight on the day its announced!

Dave

If the Government makes a change in the rules with immediate effect, everyone says, "Oh how stupid, they should have given some warning so that people can prepare!"

If the Government gives some warning of a change in the rules, everyone says, "Oh how stupid, if they know it's necessary, they should make it immediate for maximum effect."

Which is part of the reason why almost no sensible grown-ups want to be politicians.

[edited for typos and poor grammar - it was early in the morning!]

I doubt there will be a “back to normal” for a very, very long time.

Mutations from India I suspect...
Yep. I can’t understand this ‘give me the jabs and let’s go and book a Saga cruise to celebrate’ mentality of many older people, ok I’m in the Saga marketing database now but you know what I mean. This has so much to run elsewhere in the world largely due to less developed healthcare systems that our travel sphere will only gradually open up.

There are lots of places on my list still to go to but the thought of going through the hub airport Petri dish which is Dubai - the best way to travel south and east from regional UK in my experience - makes me shudder. Can’t see it happening at all next year and not sure if 2023 will work either. Certainly my Emirates points will have all expired first. People that expect travel in 2021 bar the odd country like Portugal are smoking something.

Are you sure that's not the OO-AAR rate as it's the SW?
With the good weather and all the bars with terraces open just Weston super Mare for one has many and seeing pictures this week busy is an understatement with people everywhere.

I’m just in the throes of planning my return from Denmark for my 2nd injection. If the rules remain as they are I wouldn’t be doing it to go on holiday. With isolations etc it looks like it will be a 21-23 days before I can get back into the office in Denmark. And somewhere in region of 7/8 tests. Good news is the Danish ones are free going both ways. Where as in the uk I have to pay to be tested while I’m isolating.

Yep , fully aware how difficult and or expensive travel has become, I advise booking all tickets as returns or in advance , my security/risk managment mates are getting ripped off left right and centre for their rota changes etc

Amen to all that. Was discussing how to get to places we want to go with Mrs Crud this very morning. Cobblers to hubbing through Dubai or Doha. I don't want to go on holiday until I can do it in freedom.

It'll be my BA points that get used before the Emirates ones, is my guess. And even that feels like at least 6-9 months off.

My God, it's kicking off in India big time now. How fast things can get bad. We had a trade delegation going there just two weeks ago. (it was cancelled). We were still allowing people in from India just last Friday. They were having massive festivals earlier THIS month.
Modi should be arrested for crimes against humanity. Their healthcare system, if you can call it that is in turmoil.
This is a World problem and it is not going away any time soon.

It does make you thankful to live in a country where even the poor get access to proper health care, can you ever imagine a situation here where people are queuing up to fill oxygen tanks up in the street.
Even in Europe infection rates are nowhere near as low as ours and we continue to stay far ahead on vaccination.
You are right that the problems in India and Brazil will need the rest of the world to pull together to sort out.
Let’s hope they have suspended their space programme and are concentrating on the things that matter.

Modi is a complete cockwomble in total denial. He recently spent $244 million on a statue and billions on his space programme. He has no idea about values. India has the lowest money per capita head (0.34%) of pretty much the whole world spent on healthcare. Very few countries spend less.
